Neutron diffraction experiments have been performed on a magnetically ordered CeCu2Si2 single crystal exhibiting A-phase anomalies in specific heat and thermal expansion. Below T(N) approximately 0.8 K antiferromagnetic superstructure peaks have been detected. The propagation vector of the magnetic order appears to be determined by the topology of the Fermi surface of heavy quasiparticles as in...

We describe a family of 32 subjects, including two healthy siblings without detectable pancreatic amylase in serum and five healthy relatives (one of them a sister) exhibiting subnormal pancreatic amylase activities. Comparisons of immunoreactive amylase concentrations with the corresponding amylase activities may justify the assumption of a "silent" Amy-2 allelic variant.

This paper is mainly tutorial in nature and discusses architectures for oversampling converters with a particular emphasis on those which are well suited for high frequency input signal bandwidths. The first part of the paper looks at various architectures for discrete-time modulators and looks at their performance when attempting high speed operation. The second part of this paper presents som...

near Canterbury, Mr. Buchanan, who lost both parents when he was only seven years old, was educated at Christ's Hospital, where he became a Grecian, as members of the top form are called. Few schools have been more identified with men of letters, and it was therefore fitting that Mr. Buchanan should, after matriculation, have won a scholarship at London University for Classics and English Liter...

A number of recent visual-word recognition and reading experiments have concluded that the upper part of words is more important for lexical access than is the lower part, which conforms with Huey's (1908) observation. Here, we examined whether this phenomenon may simply be due to the fact that words in Indo-European languages tend to have a higher number of confusable letters in the lower than...

Since a genome is a discrete sequence, the elements of which belong to a set of four letters, the question as to whether or not there is an error-correcting code underlying DNA sequences is unavoidable. The most common approach to answering this question is to propose a methodology to verify the existence of such a code. However, none of the methodologies proposed so far, although quite clever,...
