This paper examines the different characteristics of tacit knowledge and develops an integrated framework for transferring tacit knowledge effectively. The appropriateness and relevance of knowledge management (KM) mechanisms and technologies for varied degrees of tacitness is discussed. The theoretical foundations for the framework are based on media richness theory and social cognitive theory.
