A combined technique of extracapsular cataract extraction and silicone oil injection is described. The anterior capsule is preserved to prevent movement of the silicone oil from the vitreous cavity to the anterior chamber. An anterior chamber tap ensures that the vitreous cavity is completely filled with silicone oil, while a peripheral iridectomy prevents postoperative pupillary block glaucoma.
BACKGROUND Various sedative and analgesic techniques have been used during shock wave lithotripsy (SWL). AIM This study aimed at evaluating the efficacy of ultrasound-guided unilateral transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block as an analgesic technique alternative during ureteric SWL. SETTINGS AND DESIGN Prospective randomized comparative study. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fifty patients schedule...
OBJECTIVES To compare the analgesic efficiencies of caudal blocks, ultrasound (US)-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) blocks, and ilio-inguinal/ilio-hypogastric (II/IH) blocks performed to provide postoperative analgesia in pediatric patients undergoing unilateral lower abdominal surgery. Methods: This prospective, randomized, single-blinded study was conducted in the Department of Pediat...
Background: Ultrasound imaging techniques have gained great popularity in anaesthesia during the last decade. We aimed to compare an ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block and caudal for postoperative analgesia children undergoing lower abdominal surgeries. Methods: This study randomly allocated 62 two groups of 31 each. One group received a with 0.25% bupivacaine 0.5 ml/kg 1...
Background: Pain could lead to an increased consumption of opioids intraoperatively as well postoperatively with subsequent side effects and prolonged post-operative recovery. Transverse abdominus plain (TAP) block is commonly used for analgesia. We wanted study the effect TAP block, when given pre-emtive Aims Objectives: The was conducted ascertain benefit before surgical incision. primary obj...
Herpesviruses are large DNA viruses that are highly abundant within their host populations. Even in the presence of a healthy immune system, these viruses manage to cause lifelong infections. This persistence is partially mediated by the virus entering latency, a phase of infection characterized by limited viral protein expression. Moreover, herpesviruses have devoted a significant part of thei...
