We demonstrate an opto-electrokinetic technique for non-invasive particle manipulation on the surface of a parallel-plate indium tin oxide (ITO) electrode that is biased with an alternating current (AC) signal and illuminated with near-infrared (1064 nm) optical landscapes. This technique can generate strong microfluidic vortices at higher AC frequencies (>100 kHz) and dynamically and rapidly a...

This study presents a new DEP manipulation technique using a movable liquid electrode, which allows manipulation of particles by actively controlling the locations of electrodes and applying on-off electric input signals. This DEP system consists of mercury as a movable liquid electrode, indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass, SU-8-based microchannels for electrode passages, and a PDMS medium cham...

From simple pocket calculators to mobile telephones and liquid crystal display (LCD)-TV, over the past few decades, devices based on LCD technology have proliferated and can now be found in all conceivable aspects of everyday life. Although used in cutting-edge technology, it is surprising that a vital part in the construction of such displays, namely the alignment layer, relies essentially on ...

A versatile immunosensor using CdTe quantum dots as electrochemical and fluorescent labels has been developed for sensitive protein detection. This sandwich-type sensor is fabricated on an indium tin oxide chip covered with a well-ordered gold nanoparticle monolayer. Gel imaging systems were successfully introduced to develop a novel high-efficient optical immunoassay, which could perform simul...

A laser diffraction-induced dielectrophoresis (DEP) phenomenon for the patterning and manipulation of individual HepG2 cells and polystyrene beads via positive/negative DEP forces is reported in this paper. The optoelectronic substrate was fabricated using an organic photoconductive material, TiOPc, via a spin-coating process on an indium tin oxide glass surface. A piece of square aperture arra...

We have studied the stability of the resistive switching process in the Al/(In2O3)0.9(SnO2)0.1/TiO2 assembly grown by atomic layer deposition. Besides electrical characterization the effect of electric field on the atomic electronic structure of the TiO2 layer was studied using near edge X-ray absorption fine structure (NEXAFS) spectroscopy. The region of the current instability in the I-V char...

Large-scale Ag nanosheet-assembled micro-hemispheres, with sufficient hot spots on their surfaces, have been achieved on an indium tin oxide substrate via electrodeposition. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) measurements demonstrate that the Ag nanosheet-assembled micro-hemispheres can serve as sensitive and reproducible SERS substrates.

We report on the characteristics of enhanced and balanced white-light emission from bi-directional organic light-emitting diodes (BiOLEDs) enabled by the introduction of micro-cavity effects. The insertion of an additional metal layer between the indium tin oxide anode and the hole transporting layer results in similar light output of our BiOLEDs in both top and bottom direction and in reduced ...

Copper nanowire networks are considered a promising alternative to indium tin oxide as transparent conductors. The fast degradation of copper in ambient conditions, however, largely overshadows their practical applications. Here, we develop the synthesis of ultrathin Cu@Au core-shell nanowires using trioctylphosphine as a strong binding ligand to prevent galvanic replacement reactions. The epit...

We generated a novel amorphous oxide semiconductor thin film transistor (AOS-TFT) that has exellent bias-stress stability using solution-processed gallium tin zinc oxide (GSZO) layers as the channel. The cause of the resulting stable operation against the gate bias-stress was studied by comparing the TFT characteristics of the GSZO layer with a tin-doped ZnO (ZTO) layer that lacks gallium. By p...
