Various types of carbon-based and non-carbon-based catalyst supports for nitric oxide (NO) removal through selective catalytic reduction (SCR) with ammonia are examined in this review. A number of carbon-based materials, such as carbon nanotubes (CNTs), activated carbon (AC), and graphene (GR) and non-carbon-based materials, such as Zeolite Socony Mobil-5 (ZSM-5), TiO2, and Al2O3 supported mate...

Platinum (Pt) is the common catalyst used in a direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). However, Pt can lead towards catalyst poisoning by carbonaceous species, thus reduces the performance of DMFC. Thus, this study focuses on the fabrication of a new composite TiO2 carbon nanofiber anodic catalyst support for direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) via electrospinning technique. The distance between the t...

Niobium was doped into anatase TiO2 support at 10 mol % Nb0.1Ti0.9O2 using sol-gel chemistry. A PtRu/Nb0.1Ti0.9O2 catalyst was synthesized by LiBH4 reduction in tetrahydrofuran. The methanol electro-oxidation activity of the catalyst shows that this oxide support was electrically conductive. The current A/gPt was 6% higher on the PtRu/Nb0.1Ti0.9O2 catalyst compared to a commercial PtRu/C cataly...

A novel in situ synthesized Ru(bpy)3/TiO2 hybrid nanocomposite is developed for the photoreduction of CO2 into methanol under visible light irradiation. The prepared composite was characterized by means of SEM, TEM, XRD, DT-TGA, XPS, UV-Vis and FT-IR techniques. The photocatalytic activity of the synthesized hybrid catalyst was tested for the photoreduction of CO2 under visible light using trie...

In this study, N, Scodoped titania photocatalyst was synthesized through an efficient and straight forward method using a single source, ammonium sulfate, as modification agent of titanium isopropoxide (TTIP) precursor. The catalyst was characterized by X-ray powder diffractometer (XRD), element Analysis of carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen (CHN), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), diffuse reflectanc...

Selective activation of primary C-H bonds for fine chemicals synthesis is of crucial importance for the sustainable exploitation of available feedstocks. Here, we report a viable strategy to synthesize ternary GR-CdS-TiO2 composites with an intimate spatial integration and sheet-like structure, which is afforded by assembling two co-catalysts, graphene and TiO2, into the semiconductor CdS matri...

Photocatalytic degradation of Chlorpyrifos in aqueous phase by using photocatalyst TiO2 in the presence of artificial UV-light and sunlight was reported. Experiments were performed in both UV and solar light at optimized conditions. The degradation of insecticide was investigated in terms of reduction in COD. The effect of catalyst loading, pH, addition of oxidant on the reaction rate was ascer...

Hot holes in Pt-Cu alloy clusters can act as catalyst to accelerate the intrinsic aerobic oxidation reactions. It is described that under visible light irradiation the synergistic alcohol catalytic oxidation on Pt-Cu alloy clusters (≈1.1 nm)/TiO2 nanobelts could be significant promoted by interband-excitation-generated long-lifetime hot holes in the clusters.

Photocatalytic H2 production over TiO2 has attracted tremendous attention and achieved great progress, but the active hydrogen species is still unknown. Employing a rutile TiO2(110) surface as a model catalyst we report here for the first time the direct observation of photocatalytic H2 production under ultrahigh vacuum conditions during UV-light irradiation at 115 K and the identification of n...

Conventional supported Pt catalysts have often been prepared by loading Pt onto commercial supports, such as SiO2, TiO2, Al2O3, and carbon. These catalysts usually have simple metal-support (i.e., Pt-SiO2) interfaces. To tune the catalytic performance of supported Pt catalysts, it is desirable to modify the metal-support interfaces by incorporating an oxide additive into the catalyst formula. H...
