Profound changes in protein metabolism noted in diabetes mellitus are grossly reflected in a negative nitrogen balance. It is not clear whether this is due to depressed protein synthesis or to increased protein catabolism. Turnover studies with N15glycine have been interpreted to favor an effect on synthesis (1). Krahl (2) has demonstrated that liver slices from diabetic rats have a decreased c...
hydraulic conductivity variations around the boreholes in uniformly graded sands for cyclic water injection pressure have been evaluated by laboratory tests. prototype laboratory devices have been designed and constructed for this research. the cell has a capability to model the well, the boundary condition and to measure the hydraulic conductivity. while increasing water injection pressure, hy...
We continue the investigation initiated in [8] of uniform L bounds for the family of bilinear Hilbert transforms Hα,β(f, g)(x) = p.v. ∫ R f(x − αt)g(x − βt) dt t . In this work we show that Hα,β map L1(R) × L2(R) into L(R) uniformly in the real parameters α, β satisfying | β − 1| ≥ c > 0 when 1 < p1, p2 < 2 and 2 3 < p = p1p2 p1+p2 < ∞. As a corollary we obtain L × L∞ → L uniform bounds in the ...
is called the modulus of (uniform) continuity of f . The mapping f is said to be uniformly continuous if Ω f (d) → 0 as d ↓ 0. In this case the modulus of continuity is a subadditive monotone continuous function. The definition of Ω f implies that f (Br(x)) ⊂ BΩ f (r)( f (x)). (By Bρ(y) and Bρ(y) we denote, respectively, the open and the closed ball of radius ρ, centered at y.) One important cl...
The cohomology of operator algebras introduced by B. E. Johnson, R. V. Kadison, and J. R. Ringrose in a series of three papers is a useful tool for obtaining new invariants for operator algebras or to prove stability results by the vanishing of their cohomology groups (see [14]). If X is a von Neumann algebra and a Banach bimodule over M, and if « is a positive integer, then the nth cohomology ...
size of the éliminants but the size of their largest prime factor which is important, and secondly it is not essential to take the w's in order of magnitude. In answer, it should be pointed out that after one passes the limits of factor tables, it becomes impracticable to deal with the factors of the éliminant rather than the éliminant. Therefore, since the éliminant (in one case at least) appe...
We introduce a new three-step iterative scheme with errors. Several convergence theorems of this scheme are established for common fixed points of nonself asymptotically quasi-non-expansive mappings in real uniformly convex Banach spaces. Our theorems improve and generalize recent known results in the literature.
Suppose that K is a nonempty closed convex subset of a real uniformly convex Banach space E , which is also a nonexpansive retract of E with nonexpansive retraction P . Let {Ti : i ∈ I } be N nonself asymptotically nonexpansive mappings from K to E such that F = {x ∈ K : Ti x = x, i ∈ I } 6= φ, where I = {1, 2, . . . , N }. From arbitrary x0 ∈ K , {xn} is defined by xn = P((1− αn)xn−1 + αnTn(PT...
We obtain large deviation bounds for non-uniformly expanding maps with non-flat singularities or criticalities and for partially hyperbolic non-uniformly expanding attracting sets. That is, given a continuous function we consider its space average with respect to a physical measure and compare this with the time averages along orbits of the map, showing that the Lebesgue measure of the set of p...
Suppose a sequence of random variables fX n g has negative drift when above a certain threshold and has increments bounded in L p. When p > 2 this implies that EX n is bounded above by a constant independent of n and the particular sequence fX n g. When p 2 there are counterexamples showing this does not hold. In general, increments bounded in L p lead to a uniform L r bound on X + n for any r ...
