We searched for high-z quasars within the X-ray source population detected in contiguous $\sim 140^2$ eFEDS field observed by eROSITA during performance verification phase. collected available spectroscopic information field, including sample of all currently known optically selected z>5.5 and cross-matched secure Legacy DR8 counterparts eROSITA-detected point-like sources with this sample. rep...

Measurements of secondand third-order nonlinear polarizabilities (hyperpolarizabilities) for HF and HCI using dc electric-field-induced secondharmonic generation are presented: xt(HF) = 70(10) X 10esu/mol, xl() (HF) = 4.70(41) X 10esu/mol, XIl )(HCI) = 347(15)X 10esu/mol, Xlf)(HCI) = 4.22(50) X 10esu/mol. In the case of HF this allows a critical comparison with theory. HF has fewer electrons th...

We present the first results of an XMM-Newton EPIC survey of NGC 2516, a southern low-metallicity open cluster with an age close to the Pleiades. The attained limiting sensitivity is of ∼ 2.4×10 erg sec cm in the 0.1–4.0 keV bandpass. This has been achieved by summing the data of the MOS and PN cameras of two distinct observations for a total exposure time of ∼ 33 ks and by analyzing the summed...

Polymicrogyria (PMG) is a common malformation of the human cerebral cortex for which both acquired and genetic causes are known. Although genetic heterogeneity is documented, only one gene is currently known to cause isolated PMG. To clone new genes involved in this type of cerebral malformation, we studied a fetus presenting a defect of cortical organization consisting of a polymicrogyric cort...

DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) induced in the genome of higher eukaryotes by ionizing radiation (IR) are predominantly removed by two pathways of non-homologous end-joining (NHEJ) termed D-NHEJ and B-NHEJ. While D-NHEJ depends on the activities of the DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK) and DNA ligase IV/XRCC4/XLF, B-NHEJ utilizes, at least partly, DNA ligase III/XRCC1 and PARP-1. Using in v...
