Model Predictive Control (MPC) is increasingly being proposed for application to miniaturized devices, fast and/or embedded systems. A major obstacle to this is its computation time requirement. Continuing our previous studies of implementing constrained MPC on Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), this paper begins to exploit the possibilities of parallel computation, with the aim of speeding...

The hyporheic zone is an active ecotone between the surface stream and groundwater. Exchanges of water, nutrients, and organic matter occur in response to variations in discharge and bed topography and porosity. Upwelling subsurface water supplies stream organisms with nutrients while downwelling stream water provides dissolved oxygen and organic matter to microbes and invertebrates in the hypo...

Basil Gordon, in the sixties, and George Andrews, in the seventies, generalized the Rogers-Ramanujan identities to higher moduli. These identities arise in many areas of mathematics and mathematical physics. One of these areas is representation theory of infinite dimensional Lie algebras, where various known interpretations of these identities have led to interesting applications. Motivated by ...
We report on the results of the ASCA and ROSAT observations on RX J0059.2−7138, a transient X-ray pulsar in the Small Magellanic Cloud. The barycentric pulse period has been precisely determined to be 2.763221± 0.000004 s. The pulse shape is almost identical in all of the energy bands. The pulse fraction increases with the photon energy below ∼ 2 keV, while it is nearly constant at ∼ 37% above ...
