Aluminium is totally recyclable with no downgrading of its qualities, but in the process of typical conventional aluminium recycling, there are quite a number of negative impacts. The recycling of aluminium and its alloys by direct recycling method is relatively simple, consumes small amount of energy, produce small amount of waste and does not have a harmful effect on the environment. This app...

To achieve reliable welds with minimum distortion for the fabrication of components in aerospace industry laser beam welding is attempted. Laser welding can provide a significant benefit for the welding of Titanium and Aluminium thin sheet alloys of its precision and rapid processing capability. For laser welding, pulse shape, energy, duration, repetition rate and peak power are the most import...

A new approach using neural networks (NN) is proposed for the identification ofmicrostructural parameters for precipitates dissolution in precipitation hardenablealuminium alloys. The model is based on the kinetics of dissolution of precipitates model for hardenablealuminium alloys given by Myhr and Grong (1991) [1]. Shercliff et al. (2005) [2] showedthat the Myhr and Grong (...

The effect of electron conditioning on commercially aluminium alloys 1100 and 6063 were investigated. Contrary to the assumption that electron conditioning, if performed long enough, can reduce and stabilize the SEY to low values (≤ 1.3, value of many pure elements [1]), the SEY of aluminium did not go lower than 1.8. In fact, it reincreases with continued electron exposure dose.

friction welding is widely used in various industries. in friction welding, heat is generated by conversion of mechanical energy into thermal energy at the interface the work pieces during pin rotation under pressure. a three-dimensional thermo mechanical simulation of friction stir welding (fsw) processes is carried out for aluminium alloys of 6061and 7050 where the simulation results are comp...

Precipitation hardening is the most common method in the strengthening of aluminium alloys. This method relies on the decrease of solid solubility with temperature reduction to produce fine precipitations which impede the movement of dislocations. The quality control of aluminium alloy specimens is an important concern of engineers. Among different methods, non-destructive techniques are the...

Aluminiumeair cells are high-energy density (<400 W h kg 1) primary batteries developed in the 1960s. This review shows the influence of the materials, including: aluminium alloy, oxygen reduction catalyst and electrolyte type, in the battery performance. Two issues are considered: (a) the parasitic corrosion of aluminium at open-circuit potential and under discharge, due to the reduction of wa...

A literature review on methods to consider mechanical behaviour of cast aluminium alloys in finite element method (FEM) simulations of cast aluminium components has been performed. The mechanical behaviour is related to several microstructural parameters achieved during the casting process. Three different methods to consider these microstructural parameters are introduced. One method predicts ...
