Anodic Aluminium Oxide (AAO) membranes were fabricated using a modified 2 step anodization process. The effect of varying anodization voltage, time and temperature of electrolyte on the morphology of the pores was studied. AFM measurements showed that the anodized samples contain ordered pores of 32 nm in diameter and were 40nm apart.

Highly self-ordered alumina nanopore arrays were fabricated using hard anodization technique in different mixtures of oxalic/phosphoric acid. The phosphoric acid concentration was varied from 0.05 to 0.3 M while the oxalic acid concentration was changed between 0.3 and 0.4 M. The self ordered nanoporous arrays were obtained in anodization voltage changing from 130 to 200 V. The interpore distan...

2014 Room temperature plasma anodization of silicon (growth rate of a few nm/min.) is possible through a thin calcia stabilized zirconia (CSZ) layer. The anodization kinetics, the composition and the electrical properties of the anodic SiO2 films are studied. Constant voltage or low current anodization lead to quasi defect free films with reduced surface roughness. The dielectric breakdown fiel...

In this research, ordered porous anodic templates with 30 nm diameter and 15 µm thickness were prepared by using double anodization process. Dip coating method was employed to synthesize strontium ferrite in the form of nanowires in sol dilution. Ferrite nanopowders were also synthesized using sol gel method. The characterization of the nanostructures were examined by X-Ray Diffraction (X...

A parametric study of carbon nanotube (CNT) synthesis from catalytically active porous anodic Al–Fe–Al multilayer templates was conducted with respect to pore aspect ratio, Fe layer thickness, CNT synthesis temperature, and pre-anodization thermal annealing. Performance metrics included CNT catalytic activity and the pore wall integrity at the Al–Fe–Al interface. The observed CNT density was a ...

We describe the preparation of a tungsten pillar nanoimprint stamp without the use of lithography and etching techniques. Structures with heights of 15 nm were prepared on the basis of self-ordered porous alumina templates and this was followed by DC sputtering of tungsten. The stamp was successfully used to prepare an aluminium surface to obtain highly ordered porous anodic alumina films after...

In this paper, we present the synthesis of self-organized TiO2 nanotube arrays formed by anodization of thin Ti film deposited on Si wafers by direct current (D.C.) sputtering. Organic electrolyte was used to demonstrate the growth of stable nanotubes at room temperature with voltages varying from 10 to 60 V (D.C.). The tubes were about 1.4 times longer than the thickness of the sputtered Ti fi...

In the present work, we report on the self-organized growth of TiO(2) layers consisting of a highly aligned nanochannel morphology. We show that an electrochemical anodization process of Ti in a hot glycerol/K(2)HPO(4) electrolyte can be adjusted to yield these self-organized TiO(2) structures. The channel diameter and length are controllable by the anodization parameters. This directional stru...

Synthesis--particularly by electrochemical anodization-, growth mechanism and chemical sensing properties of pure, doped and mixed titania tubular arrays are reviewed. The first part deals on how anodization parameters affect the size, shape and morphology of titania nanotubes. In the second part fabrication of sensing devices based on titania nanotubes is presented, together with their most no...

In the present work, we demonstrate the feasibility to form an aligned Nb(2)O(5) nanotube layer by self-organizing anodization of Nb in a NH(4)F-glycerol electrolyte. In order to achieve a nanotubular rather than a nanoporous layer, careful optimization of the anodization electrolyte is required. We show that only in a narrow window of electrolyte parameters highly aligned nanotubes of 50 nm in...
