The reliability of wireless sensor networks is significant in certain applications, especially the reliable routing. Most existing routing protocols use multi-paths to improve routing reliability. However, multi-paths waste a large amount of energy to obtain redundancy. This is not an optimal option for sensor nodes with limited energy. In this paper, a novel clustering-based reliable multi-hop...

We propose a new approach exploiting the failure risk (node, link or Shared Risk Link Group) structures to enhance the backup path computation. Upon failure, our approach classifies the backup paths into two categories: operative backup paths and inoperative backup paths. An operative backup path is an active backup path which really receives traffic of some affected communications while an ino...

Sensor Network is real time network with specification of environment specific critical nodes. To provide the regular monitoring and uninterrupted battery backup, it is required to track the nodes continuously. In mobile sensor network, such kind of target node tracking is more critical. In this present work, multi-featured and fuzzy trained method is defined for target tracking. At the earlier...

The first layer of defense against data loss is the backup data. This paper implements an agent-based network backup system used the backup, server-storage and server-backup agent these tripartite construction, and the snapshot and hierarchical index are used in the NSBS. It realizes the control command and data flow separation, balances the system load, thereby improving efficiency of the syst...

In the area of Intelligent Transportation Systems the introduction of wireless communications is reshaping the information distribution concept, and is one of the most important enabling technologies. The distribution of real-time traffic information, scheduling and route-guidance information is helping the transportation management systems in their strive to optimize the system. The communicat...

due to limitations in computing resources of mobile nodes, mobile ad-hoc networks (manets) are very fault-prone. so far, redundancy at different levels of the network has been considered an efficient strategy to enhance the fault-tolerance of networks. indeed, ad-hoc networks are extremely redundant; therefore, natural redundancy to fault tolerance enhancement has a great impact on the network ...

We propose the so-called backup tree algorithm to compute a set of n-1 backup multicast delivery trees from the default multicast tree for application level multicast. For each backup multicast tree exactly one link of the default multicast tree is replaced by a backup link from the set of available links. The backup tree algorithm calculates the n-1 trees with a complexity of O (m log n).

We consider a finite capacity queueing system with one main server who is supported by a backup server. We assume Markovian arrivals, phase type services, and a threshold-type server backup policy with two pre-determined lower and upper thresholds. A request for a backup server is made whenever the buffer size (number of customers in the queue) hits the upper threshold and the backup server is ...

In this paper, we show two process allocation schemes to tolerate multiple faults when the primary-backup replication method is used. The rst scheme, called multiple backup scheme, is running multiple backup processes for each process to tolerate multiple faults. The second scheme, called regenerative backup scheme, is running only one backup process for each process, but regenerates backup pro...
