Owing to recent advances in diagnostic and surgical techniques for cancer, a patient diagnosed with two or more neoplasms is not rare. We report on the case of a 58-year-old male with multiple primary malignant neoplasms, who suffered from three histological types of malignant neoplasm in six organs, namely the glottis, renal pelvis, urinary bladder, oral floor, prostate, and esophagus in chron...
Primary bladder tumor is a frequent urological malignancy, whereas the incidence of secondary bladder tumor from a distant organ is quite rare. Secondary bladder neoplasms represent 1% of all malignant bladder tumors, of which distant metastases from stomach account for about 4% of cases. We present the case of a 30-year-old male who underwent partial gastrectomy for Signet-ring cell carcinoma ...
PURPOSE We compare virtual cystoscopy (VC) and transabdominal ultrasonography (US) with conventional cystoscopy (CC),the gold standard, for detection of bladder tumors. PATIENTS AND METHODS Forty-five patients suspected to have bladder neoplasms were evaluated prospectively. They underwent transabdominal US, followed by VC and CC. We compared sensitivity and specificity of US and VC and their ...
Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) can be found in most organs, as well as in the urinary bladder. Some of the clinical and pathologic features of these tumors may be characteristic of the organ of origin, but most of the properties are shared by neuroendocrine neoplasms regardless of their anatomic site. In the bladder, NETs comprise less than 1% of all bladder tumors and can be found in a pure form...
Mucinous neoplasms of the urinary tract are very rare. We present a 63-year-old-women who had a sessile papillary villous tumor in urinary bladder. Although transurethral resection of the bladder tumor (TURBT) was performed, the villous tumor repetitively recurred and gradually spread to the entire surface of bladder lumen. Histopathologic and immunohistochemical examination showed that the les...
Solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a neoplasm typically arising in the pleura. Yet, extrapleural cases have been described and are a common cause of diagnostic pitfalls, especially when met in unusual sites. We report the clinical and pathological features of a case of SFT arising in a rather unusual site, the urinary bladder, the seventh reported to date in the English literature and the first wi...
A case of carcinosarcoma of the urinary bladder characterized by electron microscopy and immunohistochemistry is described. The use of these studies in poorly differentiated bladder neoplasms and in suspected cases of carcinosarcoma is encouraged. Increased accuracy in characterizing these tumors will permit a better understanding of their natural history and response to therapy.
The present study was carried out to describe the Histopathological features of various neoplasms in urinary bladder biopsies and categorize neoplastic lesions according W.H.O (2016)/ISUP classification tumors. A total 37 cases, 28 (TURBT) 9 cystectomy specimens neoplasia [histologically proved] patients were studied retrospectively over period from June 2016- Oct 2018 Pathology department Smt....
A 64-year-old man presented with gross painless hematuria. Cystoscopy revealed a submucosal bladder neck mass covered by normal urothelium. During transurethral resection, the patient developed hemodynamic crisis including sinus bradycardia. Histopathologic examination revealed a primary bladder composite paraganglioma-ganglioneuroma (CPG). The patient underwent partial cystectomy and is sympto...
