Complexes of the form [Ru(diimine)2(btz)](2+) (btz = 1,1'-dibenzyl-4,4'-bi-1,2,3-triazolyl) are observed to undergo photochemical ejection of the btz ligand in the absence of any promotion through steric congestion to generate cis-bis(solvent) complexes [Ru(diimine)2(solvent)2](2+).
BACKGROUND The proteasome inhibitor bortezomib (BTZ) is successfully applied in the treatment of multiple myeloma, but its efficacy is restricted by the wide-spread occurrence of resistance. Metabolic alterations play an important role in cancer development and aid in the cellular adaptation to pharmacologically changed environments. Metabolic changes could therefore play an essential role in t...
Background: Although the introduction of protease inhibitor bortezomib (BTZ) and immunomodulatory agent lenalidomide has led to improved outcomes in patients with multiple myeloma (MM), the disease remains incurable. Gambogenic acid (GNA), a polyprenylated xanthone isolated from the traditional Chinese medicine gamboge, has been reported to have potent antitumor activity and can effectively inh...
We report the unprecedented observation and unequivocal crystallographic characterization of the metastable ligand loss intermediate solvento complex trans-[Ru(bpy)(k-btz)(k-btz)(NCMe)] (1a) that contains a monodentate chelate ligand. This and analogous complexes can be observed during the photolysis reactions of a family of complexes of the form [Ru(N _ N)(btz)2] 2+ (1a–d : btz=1,1’-dibenzyl-4...
The ubiqutin-proteasome system (UPS) plays a role in rituximab-chemotherapy resistance and bortezomib (BTZ) possesses caspase-dependent (i.e. Bak stabilization) and a less characterized caspase-independent mechanism-of-action(s). Here, we define BTZ-induced caspase-independent cell death pathways. A panel of rituximab-sensitive (RSCL), rituximab-resistant cell lines (RRCL) and primary tumor cel...
We introduce a set of scalar fields as test fields to study the dynamical behaviors of the BTZ(Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli) black hole. These include minimally coupled scalar, conformally coupled scalar, dilaton, and tachyon. To calculate the decay rate of the BTZ black hole, we consider both the Dirichlet boundary condition at spatial infinity and the stability condition. It turns out that the ...
The ubiquitin-proteasome system is considered to be the key regulator of protein degradation. Bortezomib (BTZ) is the first proteasome inhibitor approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for treatment of relapsed multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma. Recently, BTZ treatment was reported to inhibit right ventricular hypertrophy and vascular remodeling in hypoxia-exposed and monocrotal...
Although most of the mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) patients initially responded well to bortezomib (BTZ), the dose-dependent toxicities have greatly limited the application of BTZ to MCL. To investigate the efficacy and mechanism of arsenic trioxide (ATO) with BTZ in inducing apoptosis of MCL cells, two MCL cell lines, along with primary cells from MCL patients (n = 4), were used. Additionally, th...
BTZ black hole is interpreted as exact solution of 3d higher spin gauge theory. Solutions for free massless fields in BTZ black hole background are constructed with the help of the star-product algebra formalism underlying the formulation of 3d higher spin theory. It is shown that a part of higher spin symmetries remains unbroken for special values of the BTZ parameters.
UNLABELLED BACKGROUND In clinical and experimental settings, antibody-based anti-CD20/rituximab and small molecule proteasome inhibitor (PI) bortezomib (BTZ) treatment proved effective modalities for B cell depletion in lymphoproliferative disorders as well as autoimmune diseases. However, the chronic nature of these diseases requires either prolonged or re-treatment, often with acquired res...
