We report a new lattice structure of the ionic clathrate hydrate of tetra-n-butylammonium bromide induced by guest CO2 molecules, which is found to provide high CO2 storage capacity. The structure was characterized by a set of methods, including single crystal X-ray diffraction, NMR, and MD simulations.

Magnetic nanoparticles-supported quaternary ammonium and phosphonium salts were prepared and evaluated as phase-transfer catalysts. Some of them exhibited good activities that were comparable to that of tetra-n-butylammonium iodide. The catalysts were readily separated using an external magnet and reusable without significant loss of their catalytic efficiency.
The molecular mechanism of action of the antitumor drug, methylthioinosine periodate oxidation product, was demon strated. This periodate oxidation product (methylthioinosinedicarboxaldehyde) inhibited bovine pancreatic ribonuclease A. The inhibition was due to Schiffs base formation with e-amino groups of lysine residues, one of which was in close proximity to the catalytic center of the enzyme.
