A series of Ce1 ́xCoxO2 ́y precursors were prepared by homogeneous precipitation using urea as a precipitant. The Co/CeO2 catalysts obtained from the Ce1 ́xCoxO2 ́y precursors were used for the steam reforming of ethanol to produce hydrogen. Co ions could enter the CeO2 lattices to form Ce1 ́xCoxO2 ́y mixed oxides at x ď 0.2 using the homogeneous precipitation (hp) method. CeO2 was an excellent suppo...

Cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO2 NPs) are favorable in nanotechnology based on some remarkable properties. In this study, the crystalline CeO2 NPs are successfully prepared by an efficient microwave combustion (MCM) and conventional route sol-gel (CRSGM) methods. The structural morphology of the as-prepared CeO2 NPs was investigated by various spectroscopic and analytical techniques. Moreover, ...

Reduction behaviors, oxygen vacancies and hydroxyl groups play decisive roles in the surface chemistry and catalysis of oxides. Employing isothermal H2 reduction we simultaneously reduced CeO2 nanocrystals with different morphologies, created oxygen vacancies and produced hydroxyl groups. The morphology of CeO2 nanocrystals was observed to strongly affect the reduction process and the resultant...

CeO2 nanoparticles (NPs) have shown promising approaches as therapeutic agents in biology and medical sciences. The physicochemical properties of CeO2-NPs, such as size, agglomeration status in liquid, and surface charge, play important roles in the ultimate interactions of the NP with target cells. Recently, CeO2-NPs have been synthesized through several bio-directed methods applying natural a...

Rapid degradation of cell performance still remains a significant challenge for proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). In this work, we develop novel CeO2 nanocubes-graphene oxide nanocomposites as durable and highly active catalyst support for proton exchange membrane fuel cell. We show that the use of CeO2 as the radical scavenger in the catalysts remarkably improves the durability of th...

We performed inhalation and intratracheal instillation studies of cerium dioxide (CeO2) nanoparticles in order to investigate their pulmonary toxicity, and observed pulmonary inflammation not only in the acute and but also in the chronic phases. In the intratracheal instillation study, F344 rats were exposed to 0.2 mg or 1 mg of CeO2 nanoparticles. Cell analysis and chemokines in bronchoalveola...

Steam reforming of ethanol in the membrane reactor using the Pd77Ag23 membrane was evaluated in Ni/CeO2 and Co/CeO2 at atmospheric pressure. At 673 K, the H2 yield in the Pd77Ag23 membrane reactor over Co/CeO2 was found to be higher than that over Ni/CeO2, although the H2 yield over Ni/CeO2 exceeded that over Co/CeO2 at 773 K. This difference was owing to their reaction mechanism. At 773 K, the...

AbstractIn this study, the stress analysis of YBCO/CeO2/YSZ/CeO2/Ni architextured materials under cryogenic conditions was carried out for coated conductor applications. YBCO/CeO2/YSZ/CeO2 multilayer films were fabricated on Ni tape substrate using reel-to-reel sol-gel and Pulse Laser Deposition (PLD) systems. The microstructural evolution of high temperature superconducting YBCO film and buffe...

OBJECTIVE Cerium oxide (CeO2) nanoparticles have been shown to protect cells in culture from lethal stress, but no protection in vivo has been reported. Cardiac-specific expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein (MCP)-1 in mice causes ischemic cardiomyopathy associated with activation of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. The aim of this study was to assess the effects of CeO2 nanoparticle...
