Here we present detailed structural data on the effect of high pressure on Cu-btc. Application of pressure causes solvent to be squeezed into the pores until a phase transition occurs, driven by the sudden compression and expansion of equatorial and axial Cu-O bonds.

There are several compounds for which there exists a disconnect between porosity as predicted by crystallography and porosity measured by gas sorption analysis. In this paper, the Zn-based analogue of Cu(3)(btc)(2) (HKUST-1), Zn(3)(btc)(2) (Zn-HKUST-1; btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate) is investigated. Conventional analysis of Zn-HKUST-1 by powder X-ray diffraction and gas sorption indicates r...

Spectroscopic evidence for an enhanced binding of Nitric Oxide (NO) to metal centers with lower oxidation states (open Cu(1+) sites) in Cu3(btc)2 (HKUST-1) is presented. The Cu(1+) sites created by thermal treatment or X-ray exposure exhibit a preferential adsorption of NO compared to H2O. This phenomenon demonstrates the potential use of MOFs with lower oxidation state metal centers for select...

A Cu-BTC metal–organic framework hybrid with graphene oxide (GO) having ultralow GO content (1 wt %) was developed in situ and explored as a medium for hydrogen storage at ambient temperature. The structural integration of both counterparts the Cu-BTC/GO attained through interaction Cu centers oxygen-bearing groups by equatorial axial coordination upon in-situ growth. As result, showed enhanced...

Reaction of Cr(CO)(6) with trimesic acid in DMF affords the metal-organic framework Cr(3)(BTC)(2).nDMF (BTC(3-) = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate), which is isostructural to Cu(3)(BTC)(2).3H(2)O. Exchanging DMF for methanol and heating at 160 degrees C under dynamic vacuum for 48 h results in the desolvated framework Cr(3)(BTC)(2). Nitrogen gas adsorption measurements performed at 77 K revealed a t...

Thin films of [Cu(3)(btc)(2)](n) (btc = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate) metal organic framework were deposited in a stepwise manner on surfaces of flexible organic polymers. The thickness of films can be precisely controlled. The deposition of the first cycles was monitored by UV-vis spectroscopy. The porosity was proven by the adsorption of pyrazine, which was monitored by FT-IR and thermogravime...
