Investigations of the interaction of cupric and zinc ions with sperm whale metmyoglobin (1) suggest that these ions interact at neutral pH with imidazole side chains and induce a reversible molecular denaturation not unlike that caused by acid (2). The binding affinity of sperm whale metmyoglobin for Cu(I1) ions and the number of protons released per mole of bound metal ion, moreover, suggest t...

In recent years, metal nano particles such as silver, copper and zinc have developed in textilefinishing. Copper nano particles are used in wound dressings and socks to give them antibacterialproperties. In the present paper, cotton fabrics were treated with different concentrations of Cu nanoparticles colloidal solution. For investigation of the durability of nano particles on cotton fabric,la...

Particulate methane monooxygenase (pMMO) catalyzes the oxidation of methane to methanol in methanotrophic bacteria. As a copper-containing enzyme, pMMO has been investigated extensively by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy, but the presence of multiple copper centers has precluded correlation of EPR signals with the crystallographically identified monocopper and dicopper center...

A Ni-Cu ion exchange has been observed for (5,15-dibromo-10,20-diphenylporphyrinato)nickel(II) (NiDBrDPP) and (5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-bromophenyl)porphyrinato)nickel(II) (NiTBrPP) on Cu(111). The ion exchange proceeds at a faster rate for the NiDBrDPP/Cu(111) system compared to NiTBrPP/Cu(111). This is explained in terms of the macrocycle-substrate distance and the distortions that occur when th...

A composite made from hollow polyhedron copper oxide and graphene oxide was synthesized by sintering a Cu-based metal-organic framework (Cu-MOF) embedded with exfoliated graphene oxide. As a proof-of-concept application, the obtained Cu(ox)-rGO materials were used in a lithium-ion battery and a sodium-ion battery as anode materials. Overall, the Cu(ox)-rGO composite delivers excellent electroch...

In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C(4)H(4)NO(4)S)(2)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Cu(2+) ion resides on a centre of symmetry. The environment of Cu(2+) ion is a distorted octa-hedron. The axial bond lengths between the Cu(II) ion and the N atoms are considerably longer than the equatorial bond distances between the Cu(II) ion and the N atoms of the ethyl-enediamine ligand as a conse...

This article presents the evidence for the significant effect of copper accelerating the bacterial inactivation on Ti-Nb-Ta-Zr (TNTZ) sputtered films on glass up to a Cu content of 8.3 at.%. These films were deposited by dc magnetron co-sputtering of an alloy target Ti-23Nb-0.7Ta-2Zr (at.%) and a Cu target. The fastest bacterial inactivation of E. coli on this later TNTZ-Cu surface proceeded wi...

In order to study the Cu(II) ion selective electrode, an optimized membrane was prepared by mixing of 30 mg of PVC powdered, 5 mg of considered ionophore, 60 mg of plasticizer and 5 mg of additive. The sensor showed a near Nernstian response for Cu(II) ions over a concentration range from 1.0×0-6 –1.0×0-2 M with a slope of 28.90.5 mV per concentration decade with a working pH range of 3.5-6.3. ...

In the title complex, [Cu(C(13)H(10)ClN(2)O)Cl], the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by one O atom and two N atoms of the tridentate Schiff base ligand and one chloride ion, forming a slightly distorted square-planar geometry. Weak Cu⋯Cl inter-actions [2.793 (5) Å] result in the formation of a chain along the a axis.
