1-(2-Alkynylphenyl)ketoximes react with Lawesson's reagent catalyzed by InCl(3) and cyanuric chloride leading to 4-methylene-4H-benzo[d][1,3]thiazines in good yields. This tandem reaction proceeds with high efficiency through Beckmann rearrangement, thioamide formation, and intramolecular nucleophilic cyclization.

A mild method for Friedel-Crafts acylation with aromatic and aliphatic carboxylic acids using cyanuric chloride, pyridine, and AlCl(3) was developed. Both inter- and intramolecular acylations were achieved at room temperature in high yield and in very short reaction times.

Several specific synthetic protocols were developed for the preparation from cyanuric chloride of a range of symmetric and non-symmetric di- and tri-substituted 1,3,5-triazines containing alkyl, aromatic, hindered, chiral and achiral hydroxyalkyl, ester and imidazole groups via sequential nucleophilic substitution of the C-Cl bond by C-O, C-N and C-S bonds.

Cyanuric chloride has been found to be an efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 2,3-unsaturated O-glycosides from the reaction of 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl-D-glucal and a wide range of alcohols in dichloromethane at room temperature. The experimental procedure is simple, and the products are obtained in high yields.

Treatment of cyanuric chloride with chiral amines or esters of chiral amino acids gave chiral 2,4-dichloro-6-alkylamino-1,3,5-triazines (2-5) in 49-69% yield, which were found useful as coupling reagents. Enantioselective activation and enantioselective aminolysis in the presence of 2-5 was observed.

The title compound, C(13)H(11)Cl(2)N(3)O(2), was obtained by the reaction of eugenol and cyanuric chloride. The dihedral angle between the benzene and triazine rings is 87.56 (4)°. Two C atoms of the allyl group are disordered over two sites in a 0.72 (2):0.28 (2) ratio.

A new and efficient method has been designed to prepare 2,2'-arylene-substituted bis(4H-3,1-benzoxazin-4-one) derivatives by using the mixture of cyanuric chloride and N,N-dimethylformamide in a microwave-assisted reaction. The method used and presented here has good rate enhancement and excellent yields.
