The paper is an attempt to react as direct and as close as possible on Dummett’s 2007 paper by addressing his overall theses about bridging the gulfs between philosophers and physicists and between analytical and continental philosophy on the one hand and, on the other hand, picking up a couple of more detailed issues Dummett raises about physics and its philosophy.

We give a short proof-theoretic treatment of a terminating contraction-free calculus G4-LC for the zero-order GG odel-Dummett logic LC. This calculus is a slight variant of a calculus given by Avellone et al, who show its completeness by model-theoretic techniques. In our calculus, all the rules of G4-LC are invertible, thus allowing a deterministic proof-search procedure.

We examine the proof-theoretic verificationist justification procedure proposed by Michael Dummett. After some scrutiny, two distinct interpretations with respect to bases are advanced: the independent and the dependent interpretation. We argue that both are unacceptable as a semantics for propositional intuitionistic logic.
