Hoffa fracture is a rare injury consisting of unicondylar tangential posterior fracture of the distal femur and only very few cases have been reported in the literature. These fractures are due to high energy trauma and conservative treatment generally yields poor results, but rigid internal fixation allows early functional rehabilitation and decreases the incidence of complications. The purpos...
dear editor,we have greatly enjoyed reading the case report entitled “‘femoral condyle fracture during revision of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: case report and a review of literature in the issue of arch bone jt surg. 2015;3(2) with great interest. we would like to commend the authors for their detailed and valuable work. although various case reports have described postoperative ...

Unicondylar fractures of the lower end of the femur are uncommon injuries that usually occur in the saggital plane 2. Coronal (tangential) plane fractures, first described by Hoffa in 1904, are unusual.(1,2, 3,4) We report our experience with three cases and the mechanism of injury is discussed. Open reduction and internal fixation is mandatory for good long-term results.
Due to the low incidence of posteromedial tibial plateau fractures and limited clinical data available, optimal treatment for this type fracture remains be established. This fracture, also known as Hoffa-like plateau, shares a similar mechanism injury with Hoffa femoral condyle. In field orthopedics, finite element analysis is considered valuable method guide decision-making. study, four method...
