Data of protein-protein interactions provide valuable insight into the molecular networks underlying a living cell. However, their accuracy is often questioned, calling for a rigorous assessment of their reliability. The computation offered here provides an intelligible mean to assess directly the rate of true positives in a data set of experimentally determined interacting protein pairs. We sh...
Protein-protein interactions (PPIs) play crucial roles in protein function for a variety of biological processes. Data from large-scale PPI screening has contributed to understanding the function of a large number of predicted genes from fully sequenced genomes. Here, we report the systematic identification of protein interactions for the unicellular cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. strain PCC6...
Mutations A49P and Delta47-53 at the T loop of the Escherichia coli GlnB (PII) protein impair regulatory interactions with the two-component sensor regulator NtrB (P. Jiang, P. Zucker, M. R. Atkinson, E. S. Kamberov, W. Tirasophon, P. Chandran, B. R. Schepke, and A. J. Ninfa, J. Bacteriol. 179: 4342-4353, 1997). We show here that these mutations also impair interactions between PII and NtrB in ...
Actually, the Hybrid Systems (HS) approach is very used to solve problems where different knowledge representations are involve in one system. This integration has the advantage to compensate the weakness of one or another system complementing their strengths. The Neuro-Symbolic Hybrid Systems (NSHS) arise of the HS as an approach that offer the possibility to implement robust systems where the...
The hybrid ARIMA-SVMs prediction models have been established recently, which take advantage of the unique strength of ARIMA and SVMs models in linear and nonlinear modeling, respectively. Built upon this hybrid ARIMA-SVMs models alike, this study goes further to extend them into the case of multistep-ahead prediction for air passengers traffic with the two most commonly used multistep-ahead pr...
Two-hybrid schemes for detecting protein-protein interactions have deepened our understanding of biology by allowing scientists to identify individual important proteins. Recent developments will allow biologists to chart regulatory networks and to rapidly generate hypotheses for the function of genes, allelic variants, and the connections between proteins that make up these networks. Future de...
Self-organized 3D photonic superstructures loaded with plasmonic hybrid nanorods were found to undergo structural transformation from body-centered cubic to simple cubic upon NIR-light irradiation resulting from the "photothermal effect" of gold nanorods. Furthermore, dynamic NIR light-directed red, green and blue reflections of the nanocomposites were demonstrated.
Zeno hybrid automata are hybrid systems that can exhibit in nitely many discrete transitions in a nite time interval. Such automata arise due to modeling simplications and may deteriorate simulation e ciency and accuracy considerably. Some basic properties of Zeno hybrid automata are explored. Possible ways to extend a simulation beyond the Zeno time are suggested.
