We introduce an improved version of RECKONER, an error corrector for Illumina whole genome sequencing data. By modifying its workflow we reduce the computation time even 10 times. We also propose a new method of determination of k-mer length, the key parameter of k-spectrum-based family of correctors. The correction algorithms are examined on huge data sets, i.e., human and maize genomes for bo...

The ability to generate whole genome data is rapidly becoming commoditized. For example, a mammalian sized genome (∼3Gb) can now be sequenced using approximately ten lanes on an Illumina HiSeq 2000. Since lanes from different runs are often combined, verifying that each lane in a genome's build is from the same sample is an important quality control. We sought to address this issue in a post ho...

paris polyphylla smith var. yunnanensis (liliaceae) is an important traditional medicinal plant of the yunnan province in china. however, the genomic information regarding this plant is limited. to further understand its molecular background, we conducted illumina hiseq 2000 second-generation sequencing of this plant species. approximately 30,198,679 reads with an average length of 202 bases we...

This is the first report of grapevine polerovirus 1 (GPoV-1) on in South Africa. It was detected ‘Katta Khurgan’ and ‘Kandari’ cultivars, using an RNAtag-seq with Illumina HiSeq sequencing RT-PCR. GPoV-1 a component mixed infections other viruses, therefore further work will be required to establish associated symptomatology.

Technological innovation and increased affordability have contributed to the widespread adoption of genome sequencing technologies in biomedical research. In particular large cancer research consortia have embraced next generation sequencing, and have used the technology to define the somatic mutation landscape of multiple cancer types. These studies have primarily utilised the Illumina HiSeq p...

Genomic DNA of Proteus mirabilis C05028 was sequenced by an Illumina HiSeq platform and was assembled to 39 scaffolds with a total length of 3.8 Mb. Next, open reading frames (ORFs) were identified and were annotated by the KEGG, COG, and NR databases. Finally, we found special virulence factors only existing in P. mirabilis C05028.

Clonostachys rosea is a promising mycoparasite. In this study, we sequenced the draft genome of the highly effective strain 67-1 using the Illumina HiSeq 2500 sequencing platform. The genome is 55.4 Mb with a G+C content of 49.2% and provides a powerful resource for future studies on the molecular mechanisms underlying Clonostachys rosea's antagonism on fungal pathogens.

Remarkable advancement in next generation sequencing technology has made personal genome analysis feasible and affordable. Here we present the whole sequence of an individual from Kashmir region India who is pandit community (IHGP04). The Indian male’s was sequenced at 38.6 X coverage with a total 110 Gb data generated using Illumina HiSeq 2000 platform. variant revealed over 3.6 million single...

Helicobacter pylori causes human gastroduodenal diseases, including chronic gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. It is also a major microbial risk factor for the development of gastric adenocarcinoma and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT) lymphoma. Twenty-one strains with different ethnicity, disease, and antimicrobial susceptibility backgrounds were sequenced by use of Illumina HiSeq and ...
