Background: Different methods have been used for characterization of Leishmania promastigotes. Monoclonal antibodies are useful in characterization of   Leishmania spp . both amastogotes and promastigotes. Objective: Comparing the characterization of   Leishmania spp. promastigotes with immunoperoxidase test (Avidin-Biotin) techniques and an indirect immunofluorescent assay (IFA).   Methods: Ap...

introduction: the implantation is a complex procedure that involves many molecules. one of these molecules is integrin specially &alphav;&beta3; which serves as receptor for components of extra cellular matrix to act as bridging molecules between the blastocyst and the endometrial surface during the implantation process. by blocking &alphav;&beta3; interactions, the implantation can be impaired...

An immunofluorescent slide method incorporating 0.1% (wt/vol) Evans blue as a counterstain was developed and compared with a recently described tube method. Seventy-one urine specimens were tested concurrently by both methods. Results of the two methods agreed in 70 specimens and disagreed in only 1. We found the slide method to be less costly and time consuming than the tube method.

The ANA HEp-2 medical test is a powerful tool in autoimmune disease diagnostics. The last step of this test, the interpretation of immunofluorescent images by trained experts, represents a potential source of errors and could theoretically be replaced by automated methods. Here we present a fully automatic method for recognition of types of immunofluorescent images produced by the ANA HEp-2 med...
