Noise and Malter breakdown have been studied at high rates in a test chamber having the same cell structure and gas as in the BaBar drift chamber. The chamber was first damaged by exposing it to a high source level at an elevated high voltage, until its operating current at normal voltages was only ~0.5nA/cm. Additives such as water or alcohol allowed the damaged chamber to operate at 25 nA/cm,...

We report on a low energy measurement of the ionization yield in Tetramethylsilane Time Projection Chamber (TPC) using 2.8 MeV neutrons from deuterium-deuterium neutron generator. The proton recoil charge is measured at four different electric fields, finding dependence that well described by Thomas-Imel model. By comparing to obtained $\gamma$-ray calibrations, quenching factor for each field....

The accuracy of a MOSFET dosimetry system with respect to peripheral therapeutic doses from high-energy X-rays has been evaluated. The results have been compared with ionisation chamber measurements in the same peripheral regions of the beam. For 6 MV and 18 MV X-ray beams, the MOSFET system in the high-sensitivity mode produces reproducibility of dose measurement with relative standard deviati...

Long lived gluinos are the trademark of split supersymmetry. They form R-hadrons that, when charged, efficiently lose energy in matter via ionisation. Independent of R-spectroscopy and initial hadronization, a fraction of R-hadrons become charged while traversing a detector. This results in a large number of stopped gluinos at present and future detectors. For a 300 GeV gluino, 10 6 will stop e...

By comparing predicted dose images with physically acquired images, radiotherapy fields may be verified. A good portal dose verification chain should be accurate and unrestricted in terms of gantry angle and patient-imager air gap distance. We present latest enhancements and rigorous tests of a portal dose prediction framework based on Monte Carlo (MC) radiation transport. We also present initi...

The work presented focuses on the measurement of Ja e plots and determination of ion recombination factors for plane parallel ionisation chambers used in pulsed electron beams. The ability to measure the Ja e plots accurately is useful when commisioning a new chamber and the ion recombination correction factor needs to be known when the chamber is calibrated in a beam quality di erent from the ...
