In this work the molar enthalpy of formation of the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium dicyanoamide in the gaseous phase [C(2)MIM][N(CN)(2)] was measured by means of combustion calorimetry and enthalpy of vaporization using transpiration. Available, but scarce, primary experimental results on enthalpies of formation of imidazolium based ionic liquids with the cation [C(n)MIM] (where n = 2...

The Hildebrand solubility parameters have been calculated for eight ionic liquids. Retention data from the inverse gas chromatography measurements of the activity coefficients at infinite dilution were used for the calculation. From the solubility parameters, the enthalpies of vaporization of ionic liquids were estimated. Results are compared with solubility parameters estimated by different me...

The Hildebrand's solubility parameters have been calculated for 18 ionic liquids from the inverse gas chromatography measurements of the activity coefficients at infinite dilution. Retention data were used for the calculation. The solubility parameters are helpful for the prediction of the solubility in the binary solvent mixtures. From the solubility parameters, the standard enthalpies of vapo...

The amount of polyynes produced by Nd:YAG laser (355, 532, and 1064 nm) ablation of fullerene and graphite pellet targets was the largest for 1064 nm ablation, contrary to the powder target in the previous report. This result is believed to come from the difference in the main polyyne-production area in liquids in the optical cell, depending on the pellet and powder targets.

Thin films of superconductor YBaCuO(YBCO) and Pb(ZrTi)O(PZT) is grown by laser ablation technique to make an electronic device. The quality and the structure of the films is studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Auger Electron Spectroscopy (AES). A quantitative analysis of the films is also deduced from AES study. Analysis of the films show that the YBCO is grown in (001) and PZT in (10...

Abstract The demand is growing for new nanoscience-based technologies with unique properties that are different from traditional wet-chemical techniques. In recent years, laser ablation in liquid (LAL) has attracted increasing attention nanomaterial synthesis, which rapidly advanced both fundamental research and applications. Compared to other techniques, LAL easy set up simple perform. A large...

Laser ablation of Nickel, Copper, Molybdenum, Indium, Tungsten and Gold by short ultraviolet laser pulses (0.5 ps, 248 nm) in vacuum is reported for the first time. For Nickel and Indium, ablation is also studied in air to demonstrate the influence of the ambient atmosphere. Metal ablation in air is significantly less efficient than in vacuum due to redeposition of ablated material. The ablatio...
