CONTEXT EUS-guided transmural drainage of pancreatic pseudocyst has been reported using a linear array echoendoscope; however, placement of large 10 French stent was not feasible because of the limited diameter of the working channel. Recently linear array echoendoscopes with large working channel (3.7 to 3.8 mm) and newer accessories for pancreatic cyst puncture have become available; however,...

Surgical resection is considered the standard of care in the management of symptomatic insulinoma. In this video, we describe the successful management of a symptomatic insulinoma by using linear array endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided ethanol ablation in a poor surgical candidate. EUS-guided ethanol ablation of insulinoma offers a safer, effective, and less invasive alternative to surgery.

BACKGROUND Although endoscopic ultrasound-guided hepaticogastrostomy (EUS-HGS) with transmural stenting has increased for biliary decompression in patients with an inaccessible papilla, the optimal biliary access point and the learning curve of EUS-HGS have not been studied. We evaluated the optimal biliary access point and learning curve for technically successful EUS-HGS. METHODS 129 consec...

neuroendocrine tumor (NET) which may lead to symptomatic fasting hypoglycemia. These often small lesions are primarily located in the pancreas. Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) has been found to be the optimal diagnostic modality for NET identification. Surgical resection of the tumor is the mainstay of therapy for an insulinoma. However, for a small subset of patients, particularly those who a...

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Recent reports have indicated that the time of day may impact the detection rate of abnormal cytology on gynecologic cytology samples. The aim of this study was to determine if procedure time or queue position affected the performance characteristics of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) for diagnosing solid pancreatic malignancies. PATIENT...

RATIONALE Assessment of mediastinal lymph nodes is recommended in patients with non-small cell lung cancer without distant metastases. Linear transesophageal endoscopic ultrasound with real-time guided fine-needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) is a promising, nonsurgical tool for mediastinal staging. OBJECTIVES We conducted a randomized controlled trial comparing surgical staging with EUS-FNA. METHO...

Ascaris lumbricoides infestation is endemic in tropical countries. Most infections by A. lumbricoides are asymptomatic, but they can produce a wide spectrum of manifestations including hepatobiliary and pancreatic complications. Pancreatic ascariasis is a rare entity. In a study of 500 patients with hepatobiliary and pancreatic disease due to A. lumbricoides infection, only seven had pancreatic...

The ampullary region is a highly complex anatomic area composed of the following histologically and functionally distinct structures: the ampullary common duct or ampulla, formed by the dilated confluence of the pancreatic and common bile duct; the sphincter of Oddi; and the duodenum with the papilla of Vater, where the ampulla opens into the duodenum [1]. Due to its complexity, this small anat...

BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS It is unknown whether significant incidental upper gastrointestinal lesions are missed when using non-forward-viewing endoscopes without completing a forward-viewing exam in linear endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) or endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) exams. We evaluated whether significant upper GI lesions are missed during EUS and ERCP when upper endosc...

Endoscopic ultrasonography (EUS) is considered a superior investigation when compared to conventional ultrasonography for imaging gall bladder (GB) lesions as it can provide high-resolution images of small lesions with higher ultrasound frequencies. Examination of GB is frequently the primary indication of EUS imaging. Imaging during EUS may not remain restricted to one station and multi-statio...
