To investigate the frequency shift phenomenon by inserting graphene, a generalized lossy transmission-line model and the related electrical parameter-extraction theory are proposed in this paper. Three kinds of graphene-based transmission lines with attenuation phenomenon including microstrip line, double-side parallel strip line, and uniplanar coplanar waveguide are analyzed under the common c...

In this paper, the transmission line theory is utilized to characterize the metamaterials comprising of microscopic elements of a periodic array, specifically, the traditional split-ring resonators (SRRs), as an example. The bianisotropic property of the metamaterials is characterized in a new way different from the existing wave methods. As evident from both simulations and experiments, the SR...

This paper discusses a method for extracting the frequency dependent parameters of lossy bransmission lines from TDtUTDT measurements. These parameters were extracted for stripline structures in printed wiring boards. Using short -thru calibration, the transmission line parameters were extracted using a combination of time windowing and rational functions.

The paper outlines how lightning-induced voltages (LIV) in multi-conductor overhead lines can be calculated in MODELS in the ATP-EMTP. Lossy ground effects on the radial electrical field is taken into account by the CoorayRubinstein approximation, but the overhead line itself is assumed to be lossless. This is a reasonable assumption for line lengths up to 1-3 km, depending on the ground resist...

In Part I of this work, analysis of uniform multi-conductor transmission line networks is performed on travelling-wave basis, via “quasi-TEM” approach. Narrowband interpretation of the modal theory in the time domain and quantification of the multiple reflections effect are both included. Theoretical demonstration and analytical formulation are provided, along with guidelines towards computatio...

In Part I of this work, travelling-wave modelling of uniform multi-conductor transmission line networks was analytically established with direct applicability to narrowband transmission, covering any network formed of lossy (in the general case), diagonalisable uniform multi-conductor transmission lines of either distinct or degenerate eigenvalues. As the whole work applies especially in the fi...

A new three-component measured equation of invariance (MEI) boundary condition is developed and applied to the hybrid edge/nodal vector finite element method. The electric field distribution on the cross section of various lossy transmission lines is calculated. The propagation constant of a lossy transmission line with coated conductor strip is also calculated. The three-component MEI boundary...

An accurate model for lossy non-unifoim transmission lines is presented. The tcchnique provides a coplanar waveguide (CPW) taper model, which has been used to accurately dc-embed measurcments of passive CPW components in line gcometriea diffcring from the nominal 50 Q geometry of thc calibration. Thc modcl accounts for both dielectric and conductor losses, and is shown to be in excellent agreem...
