The theory of nonlinear optimization traditionally studies numeric computations. However, increasing attention is being paid to involve computer algebra into mathematical programming. One can identify two possibilities of applying symbolic techniques in this field. Computer algebra can help the modeling phase by producing alternate mathematical models via symbolic transformations. The present p...

We study the ”Lie Algebra” of the group of Gauge Transformations of Space-time. We obtain topological invariants arising from this Lie Algebra. Our methods give us fresh mathematical points of view on Lorentz Transformations, orientation conventions, the Doppler shift, Pauli matrices , Electro-Magnetic Duality Rotation, Poynting vectors, and the Energy Momentum Tensor T .

Evolution by natural selection has resulted in a remarkable diversity of organism morphologies that has long fascinated scientists and served to establish the first relations among species. Despite the essential role of morphology as a phenotype of species, there is not yet a formal, mathematical scheme to quantify morphological phenotype and relate it to both the genotype and the underlying de...

The automated application of program transformations is used to derive, from abstract functional specifications of numerical mathematical algorithms, highly efficient imperative implementations tailored for execution on sequential, vector and array processors. Emphasis is placed on additional transformations which tailor implementations to use special programming techniques optimized for sparse...

In this article, the fractional q-calculus and fractional q-Leibniz rule are used to generate certain infinite series expansions and transformations relating some of q-special functions of mathematical physics. Some of these expansions and transformations thus generated are known, while others appear to be new.

We introduce a novel family of geometrical transformations for the non-rigid registration of medical images, called polyrigid and polyaffine. These transformations have nice mathematical properties, including differentiability and invertibility (i.e diffeomorphism). They are parameterized by a small number of intuitive parameters which allow to recover locally rigid and locally affine deformati...
