for a finite group $g$ let $nu(g)$ denote the number of conjugacy classes of non-normal subgroups of $g$. we give a short proof of a theorem of brandl, which classifies finite groups with $nu(g)=1$.

in this paper we show that if q is a power of a prime p , then the projective special linear group psl(2, q) and the stabilizer of a point of the projective line have maximum sum element orders among all proper subgroups of projective general linear group pgl(2, q) for q odd and even respectively

we call $h$ an $ss$-embedded subgroup of $g$ if there exists a‎ ‎normal subgroup $t$ of $g$ such that $ht$ is subnormal in $g$ and‎ ‎$hcap tleq h_{sg}$‎, ‎where $h_{sg}$ is the maximal $s$-permutable‎ ‎subgroup of $g$ contained in $h$‎. ‎in this paper‎, ‎we investigate the‎ ‎influence of some $ss$-embedded subgroups on the structure of a‎ ‎finite group $g$‎. ‎some new results were obtained.‎
