The last decade has witnessed an alarming increase in the worldwide incidence of hypospadias. For non-hypospadiologists, the surgical correction of hypospadias will be increasingly demanding. This paper aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a treatment strategy devised by a single-surgeon practice in Malaysia to tackle this anticipated surge of caseload. Over a period exceeding eight years, 254...
UNLABELLED The importance of an adequate caliber neo-meatus for success of any hypospadias repair cannot be overstated. TIP repair incorporates a midline relaxing incision thus enabling tubularization but ultimately may not result in adequate neourethral caliber to avoid fistulas or meatal stenosis when the plate was narrow or flat, respectively. Objectives of this study is to evaluate results ...

The meatal advancement and glanduloplasty (MAGPI) procedure was first described in 1981 for the repair of distal hypospadias. In the past decade, our experience has grown to more than 1000 procedures. An excellent surgical result requires careful case selection, avoiding cases with thin or rigid ventral parameatal skin or a meatus too proximal or too wide. The glans wrap to support the advanced...
Lichen sclerosus is a chronic inflammatory disease associated with substantial morbidity. Knowledge of the aetiology and progression of lichen sclerosus is therefore needed. In this cross-sectional study, 100 male patients diagnosed with lichen sclerosus were interviewed and examined. Since there is a possible link between lichen sclerosus and autoimmunity, blood tests were analysed for thyroid...
Objective: To show our experience in the treatment of meatal stenosis secondary to balanitis xerotica obliterans by the use of a dorsal meatoplasty technique. Materials and methods: We have performed dorsal meatoplasty to 57 patients suffering from meatal stenosis caused by lichen sclerosus. In all cases the individuals were operated on under local anesthesia and following Malone’s original tec...
