The antiparasitic activity of the drupe extracts of Melia azedarach L. (Meliaceae) growing in Argentina was tested against a tapeworm and an earthworm, showing to be better against tapeworms than the standard piperazine phosphate, which is used in the treatment of Cestoda infections.

Ninety solvent extracts (n-hexane, dichloromethane and methanol) obtained from the leaves, bark and stem of 13 Sri Lankan Rubiaceae and two Sri Lankan Meliaceae plants have been screened for antibacterial and antifungal activities. Morinda tinctoria, Mussaenda frondosa, Psychotria gardneri and Psychotria stenophylla displayed the widest spectrum of antibacterial activity.

The title limonoid 14-de-oxyxyloccensin K, C(27)H(34)O(7), isolated from Chisocheton ceramicus (Meliaceae), features an oxygen linkage between carbon-3 and carbon-8 along with a tetra-hydro-furyl sub-unit. The six-membered rings adopt chair configurations and the tetra-hydro-furyl sub-unit has an envelope shape.
