We report on a stabilization effect on the structure and activity of Ag/Al2O3 for the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NOxwith CH4 imparted by the presence of SO2 in the exhaust gasmixture. The reaction is carried out at temperature above 600 8C to keep the surface partially free of sulfates. In SO2-free gases, catalyst deactivation is fast and measurable at these temperatures. Time-resol...

Silver nano-particles have been used for antibacterial purpose and it is also believed to have removal of odorous compounds, oxidation capacity as a metal catalyst. In this study, silver nano-particles in nano sizes (5-30 nm) were prepared on the surface of NaHCO3, the supporting material, using a sputtering method that provided high silver content and minimized conglomerating problems observed...

The first example of a homogeneous silver(I)-catalyzed aerobic oxidation of aldehydes in water is reported. More than 50 examples of different aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes, including natural products, were tested, and all of them successfully underwent aerobic oxidation to give the corresponding carboxylic acids in extremely high yields. The reaction conditions are very mild and greener, re...

Preparation of size controlled nano-particles of silver catalyst on carbon substrate from e-waste has been investigated. Chemical route was developed by extraction of the metals available in nitric acid followed by treatment with hydrofluoric acid. Silver metal particles deposited with an average size 4-10nm. A stabilizer concentration of 10-40g/l was used. The average size of the prepared silv...

The channel flow double electrode (CFDE) was used for the evaluation of the oxygen reduction activities in alkaline solution of rare-earth oxide-supported silver catalysts. The CFDE cell was modified for the experiment using the powder catalyst as a working electrode. In the present experiment, the silver electrode was supported with CeO2 in order to improve the performance of the oxygen reduct...

Reactions proceeding through cationic intermediates that lack a Lewis or Brønsted basic site present a challenge for traditional asymmetric catalysis based on chiral metals or organocatalysts. We present an enantioselective ring opening of tetrasubstituted meso-aziridinium ions with alcohol nucleophiles proceeding through a chiral ion pair with a binaphthol-phosphate anion. The reaction is init...

Metal nanoclusters exhibit unusual optical and catalytic properties due to their unique electronic structures. Here, surfactant-free silver nanoclusters supported on carbon nanodots were synthesized through a facile and green approach with only glucose and AgNO3 as precursors and without any other protecting ligands and reducing agents. The hybrid nanoclusters exhibited enhanced blue fluorescen...

A three dimensional (3D) hierarchical silver supported tungsten oxide flower-like microsphere catalyst has been fabricated using a cationic surfactant CTAB. It was found that the crystal-splitting mechanism plays a key role in the formation of this flower-like structure. This catalyst was proved to be highly effective in the liquid phase selective oxidation of m-xylene to isophthalic acid.

Hydrocarbon (HC) assisted selective catalytic reduction (SCR) is an appealing technology for NOx reduction in oxygen excess. In particular, a catalyst formulation with silver supported on alumina (Ag/Al2O3) has been measured to have high activity for this reaction [1,2]. Although numerous experimental studies have clarified issues concerning the Ag/Al2O3 catalyst, the nature of the active phase...
