Within the framework of the unrestricted time-dependent density functional theory, we present for the first time an analysis of the relativistic Coulomb excitation of the heavy deformed open shell nucleus (238)U. The approach is based on the superfluid local density approximation formulated on a spatial lattice that can take into account coupling to the continuum, enabling self-consistent studi...

A typical form of mass formula is re-explained in terms of nuclear structure. For N ≈ Z nuclei, we propose to start with the shell model picture and to consider the T = 0 2n−2p (αlike) correlations as the fundamental concept, instead of the symmetry energy. Subsequently, the symmetry energy is described on the basis of the α-like superfluidity caused by the T = 0 2n− 2p correlations, in paralle...

We show that, within the framework of a simple local nuclear energy density functional (EDF), one can describe accurately the one- and two-nucleon separation energies of semimagic nuclei. While for the normal part of the EDF we use previously suggested parametrizations, for the superfluid part of the EDF we use the simplest possible local form compatible with known nuclear symmetries.

General relativistic superfluid neutron stars have a significantly more intricate dynamics than their ordinary fluid counterparts. Superfluidity allows different superfluid ~and superconducting! species of particles to have independent fluid flows, a consequence of which is that the fluid equations of motion contain as many fluid element velocities as superfluid species. Whenever the particles ...

A typical form of mass formula is re-explained in terms of nuclear structure. For N ≈ Z nuclei, we propose to start with the shell model picture and to consider the T = 0 2n − 2p (α-like) correlations in the first place, instead of the symmetry energy as a prior concept. Afterward, the symmetry energy is described on the basis of the α-like superfluidity caused by the T = 0 2n − 2p correlations...

We suggest a “minimal model” for the 3D turbulent energy spectra in superfluids, based on their two-fluid description. We start from the Navier-Stokes equation for the normal fluid and from the coarse-grained hydrodynamic equation for the superfluid component (obtained from the Euler equation for the superfluid velocity after averaging over the vortex lines) and introduce a mutual friction coup...

This article provides a concise review of selected topics in the many-body physics of low density nuclear systems. The discussion includes the condensation of alpha particles in supernova envelopes, formation of three-body bound states and the BEC-BCS crossover in dilute nuclear matter, and neutrino production in S-wave paired superfluid neutron matter.

The Landau–Zener effect is generalized for many-body systems with pairing residual interactions. The microscopic equations of motion are obtained and the C decay of Ra spectroscopic factors are deduced. An asymmetric nuclear shape parametrization given by two intersected spheres is used. The single particle level scheme is determined in the frame of the superasymmetric two-center shell. The def...

We examine radial oscillations of superfluid neutron stars at finite internal temperatures. For this purpose, we generalize the description of relativistic superfluid hydrodynamics to the case of superfluid mixtures. We show that in a neutron star, at hydrostatic and beta-equilibrium, the redshifted temperature gradient is smoothed out by neutron superfluidity (but not by proton superfluidity)....
