The nurse rostering problem involves the assignment of shifts to nurses with respect to several constraints like workload, legal restrictions, and contractual agreements [9]. The complexity of the problem attracts many researchers around the world. Since the regulations, requirements, and agreements differ from country to country, the models and solution methods differ as well [9]. The solution...
background and objectives: in this paper, a real life nurse scheduling model is described based on the conditions in iranian hospitals such as monthly shift rotation, consecutive morning and evening shifts and consecutive evening and night shift. methods: the developed model considers both hospital constraints and nurses’ preferences. hospital constraints include assigning adequate qualified ...
We applied simulated annealing algorithm to nurse scheduling problem. For time complexity problem of simulated annealing, we suggested an efficient transition rule using cost matrix for simulated annealing. The experimental results showed that the suggested method generated a nurse scheduling faster in time and better in quality compared to traditional simulated annealing.
This paper constructs a two-stage mathematical programming model to solve the nurse scheduling problem in order to assign nurses to shifts over a scheduling period so that certain constraints (organizational and personal) are satisfied. In the first stage, the nurse optimal vacation schedules are solved by a self-schedule programming that can check for any violation of government regulations, h...
We discuss the self-rostering problem, a concept receiving more and more attention from both theory and practice. We outline our methodology and discuss its application to a number of practical case studies.
