Kearns-Sayre syndrome (KSS) was first described in 1958 as 'a rare neuromuscular disorder defined by a characteristic triad of progressive external ophthalmoplegia, pigmentary retinopathy, atrioventricular block and cerebellar ataxia'. The prevalence rate of KSS is ∼1-3 per 100 000 individuals. Here, we report a rare case of a 17-year-old Venezuelan male with KSS.

Laugier-Hunziker syndrome is a rare mucocutaneous pigmentary disorder. It is considered benign, but other mucocutaneous pigmentation disorders are in the differential diagnosis and should be ruled out. This report describes a woman with pigmentation of the labial mucosa of the lower lip who was successfully treated with a Q-switched 532-nm laser.

Cockayne's syndrome is a rare, autosomal recessive disorder characterized clinically by cachectic dwarfism, cutaneous photosensitivity, loss of adipose tissue, mental retardation, skeletal and neurological abnormalities, and pigmentary degeneration of the retina. Dental caries is a common finding. Dental rehabilitation of a 14-year-old male with Cockayne's syndrome is presented.

Hallervorden Spatz disease is a rare disorder characterized by progressive extrapyramidal dysfunction. We report a case of a 18 year old boy who presented with cervical dystonia, pigmentary retinal degeneration and MRI brain showing the "eye-of-the-tiger" appearance. Renamed recently as "Neurodegeneration with brain iron accumulation", we present this case for its rarity and interesting features.
