A two-dimensional continuous Pt island network was successfully synthesized by pulse-potentiostatic electrodeposition on a flat silicon substrate, which showed markedly enhanced catalytic activity toward methanol electrooxidation and high CO tolerance, probably due to the synergistic effect of the Pt island catalyst and surrounding SiO(2) surface layer.

A facile unipolar pulse electrodeposition combined with the thermal oxidation method was applied for fabrication of CuO/Co3O4 composites on carbon electrode for water electrolysis, and it was found that the sea anemone-like one with a 3D hierarchical structure formed at -0.8 V exhibited excellent performance for water electrolysis at a low overpotential with high stability.

This work shows that pulse electrodeposition employing a rejection cycle enables the co-deposition of non-conducting polymers, thereby yielding hybrid films demonstrate an enhanced and excellent CO 2 sorption performance.
