We study a deterministic linear quadratic LQ control problem over an in nite horizon without the restriction that the control cost matrix R or the state cost matrix Q be positive de nite We develop a general approach to the problem based on semi de nite programming SDP and related duality analysis We show that the complementary duality condition of the SDP is necessary and su cient for the exis...

We give a presentation of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras by generators and defining relations. As an application, we give an algorithm for computing decomposition numbers of cyclotomic q-Schur algebras. § 0. Introduction Let Hn,r be an Ariki-Koike algebra associated to a complex reflection group Sn ⋉ (Z/rZ). A cyclotomic q-Schur algebra Sn,r associated to Hn,r, introduced in [DJM], is defined as a...

Its value depends on the shape of φπ(x). In particular, using the asymptotic form[2, 1] φ as π (x) = 6fπx(1 − x) one obtains I0 = 3fπ which gives the F as γγ∗π0(Q ) = 4πfπ/Q 2 prediction for the large-Q behavior[1]. Brodsky and Lepage[1] proposed the interpolation formula F γγ∗π0(Q ) = 1/[πfπ(1 + Q2/s0)] which reproduces, for s0 = 4π f π , both the Q 2 = 0 value and the high-Q behavior. The sam...

We show a local duality between the left and right finite-dimensional representations on the enveloping algebra of sl(2)q , the generalized Lie algebra introduced by Lyubashenko and Sudbery. This duality works in a general context of algebras satisfying certain algebraic properties; our goal in this paper is to prove that the enveloping algebra of sl(2)q satisfies these abstract properties. PAC...

We show that for general linear groups GLn(q) as well as for q-Schur algebras the knowledge of the modular Alvis-Curtis duality over fields of characteristic l, l ∤ q, is equivalent to the knowledge of the decomposition numbers.

The ferromagnetic q-state Potts model on a square lattice is analyzed, for q > 4, through an elaborate version of the operatorial variational method. In the variational approach proposed in the paper, the duality relations are exactly satisfied, involving at a more fundamental level, a duality relationship between variational parameters. Besides some exact predictions, the approach is very effe...

The occurrence of the Bloom-Gilman local duality in the low-order moments of the nucleon structure function is investigated for values of the squared four-momentum transfer Q between ∼ 0.5 and 10 (GeV/c). At variance with previous analyses truncated Cornwall-Norton moments, limited to the nucleon-resonance production regions, are considered. The role played by target-mass corrections is illustr...

We propose a precision extraction of the neutron spin structure function g 1 and the virtual photon asymmetry An1 in the resonance region over a moderate Q 2 range (up to Q = 4:2(GeV=c)) using a polarized He target. The Bloom-Gilman duality has been experimentally demonstrated for the spin independent structure functions down to small values of Q. The proposed experiment combined with Deep-Inel...

Duality in supersymmetric SU(N) gauge theory with a symmetric tensor is studied using the technique of deconfining and Seiberg’s duality. By construction the gauge group of the dual theory necessarily becomes a product group. In order to check the duality, several nontrivial consistency conditions are examined. In particular we find that by deforming along a flat direction, the duality flows to...

We use local quark-hadron duality to estimate the purely nonperturbative soft contribution to the γ * p → ∆ form factors. Our results are in agreement with existing experimental data. We predict that the ratio G * E (Q 2)/G * M (Q 2) is small for all accessible Q 2 , in contrast to the pQCD expectations that G * E (Q 2) → −G * M (Q 2).
