The canard explosion phenomenon in a predator-prey model with Michaelis-Menten functional response is analyzed this paper by employing the geometric singular perturbation theory. First, some turning points, such as, fold point, transcritical pitchfork are identified; then Hopf bifurcation, relaxation oscillation, together transition from bifurcation to oscillation discussed.

We analyze oscillations of intermediate neutrinos in terms of scattering of particles described by Gaussian wave packets. We study a scalar model as in the previous paper (I) but in realistic situations, where two particles of the initial state and final state are wave packets and neutrinos are in the intermediate state. The oscillation of the intermediate neutrino is found from the time evolut...

An inexpensive method to measure, with beam, the Rs and Q of narrow-band high order resonances in RF cavities was developed on SPEAR. The two main results of this study are: an improved operational stability of SPEAR the decision to keep the present cavities for the proposed SPEAR upgrade. SPEAR3 will be run initially at 200 mA, twice the present current. Just beyond the current threshold, and ...

We present and study a probabilistic neural automaton in which the fraction of simultaneously-updated neurons is a parameter, rhoin(0,1). For small rho, there is relaxation towards one of the attractors and a great sensibility to external stimuli and, for rho > or = rho(c), itinerancy among attractors. Tuning rho in this regime, oscillations may abruptly change from regular to chaotic and vice ...

We investigate oscillation regularity of a noise-driven system modeled with a slow after-hyperpolarizing adaptation current (AHP) composed of multiple-exponential relaxation time scales. Sufficiently separated slow and fast AHP time scales (biphasic decay) cause a peak in oscillation irregularity for intermediate input currents I, with relatively regular oscillations for small and large current...
