A new detection mechanism has been developed for low molecular weight substrate binding to heme proteins based on resonance localized surface plasmon spectroscopy. Cytochrome P450 has strong electronic transitions in the visible wavelength region. Upon binding of a substrate molecule (e.g., camphor), the absorption band of cytochrome P450 shifts to shorter wavelength. The event of camphor bindi...
Microcavities, such as spheres, rings or toroids, show sharp optical resonances at specific wavelengths, called whispering gallery modes (WGMs). They correspond to light waves circling around the cavity, relying on continuous total internal reflection at the cavity surface. After one roundtrip, the light waves return to the same point with the same phase, hence interfere constructively with the...
We demonstrate that soliton generation in a fiber laser containing a fiber Bragg grating exhibits spectral enhancement near the Bragg resonance wavelength. The Bragg grating leads to a spectral hole on the soliton spectrum while the observed enhancement is always located at the long wavelength side of the Bragg resonance.
In this design an optical ring resonator are embedded between two Horizontal input and output waveguides which has 4 orbitals around the center of the resonator so that each orbital consists of 8 rods with different size in which radius of larger orbitals rods are bigger than radius of smaller orbitals rods. The analysis of simulation results showed the proposed filter has the transmission effi...
We characterize the spectral response of a distributed-feedback resonator when subject to a thermal chirp. An Al2O3 rib waveguide with a corrugated surface Bragg grating inscribed into its SiO2 top cladding is experimentally investigated. We induce a near-to-linear temperature gradient along the resonator, leading to a similar variation of the grating period, and characterize its spectral respo...
In a long period grating (LPG) made on a silica-based single material photonic crystal fibre (PCF), the effect of material dispersion on the resonance wavelength of the LPG is negligible. The resonance wavelength, the period and length of the LPG, and the diameter and pitch of the air-hole lattice of the PCF are found to obey a scaling law that is derived from the scaling property of the Maxwel...
today, use of nanotechnology for cancer therapy is an active field of research. early detection, accurate diagnosis, and individual treatment are the aims which cause nanotechnology as an attractive area for research. among metallic nanomaterials, gold nanostructures have unique properties which make them remarkable candidates for biomedical approaches. surface plasmonic resonance (spr) effect ...
Localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) is strongly associated with inelastic scattering of biochemical molecules near metal nanostructures, i.e., surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). Systematically exploration of the relationship between surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) and the plasmon resonance wavelength has been an experimental limitation due to the lack of reliable and tu...
