Summary graphs depicting 20 individual flame length–fire intensity relationships grouped by four different fuel complex types or settings (forest, grassland, shrubland, and laboratory) and 12 individual fireline intensity–crown scorch height relationships for two broad forest stand types (coniferand eucalypt-dominated) are presented. Users will find these quick reference visual aids of value in...

Two learning algon'thms for Disnte-Time Cellular Neunal Networks (DTCNNs) are p1~posed, which do not requin? the a priori knowledge of the output tmjectory of the ne t work. A cost function w defined, which is minimized by Direct Scorch optimization methods and Samdated A n d i n g . Applications of the algorithms are presented in a companion paper.

Xylella fastidiosa is a Gram-negative plant-pathogenic bacterium causing many economically important diseases, including almond leaf scorch disease (ALSD) in California. Genome information greatly facilitates research on this nutritionally fastidious organism. Here we report the complete genome sequences of two ALSD strains of this bacterium, M12 and M23.

Leaf scorch, top dieback, and lethal bole cankers were found in two progeny tests of sycamore in Mississippi. Both tests indicated that southern seed sources are more disease resistant than northern seed sources and that some progenies within seed source have even greater resistance. Although eight organisms associated with one or more of the disease symptoms were identified, determination of t...

Pecan bacterial leaf scorch (PBLS) and the pathogen Xylella fastidiosa were identified in 20 pecan cultivars observed in Louisiana commercial orchards over a twoyear period. The disease occurred in the majority of orchards observed and was distributed throughout the pecan growing areas of the state. Leaf scorch was most prevalent in the Cape Fear cultivar. A few other cultivars sometimes exhibi...

Scorch disease caused by Blueberry scorch virus (BlSV) spreads rapidly and radially from foci of infection. Healthy potted blueberry plants became infected when placed next to diseased field bushes from early May through mid-August. The aphid Fimbriaphis fimbriata, collected from infected field bushes, transmitted BlSV to healthy blueberry plants in controlled tests and was regarded as the most...

Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco) were monitored for 4 years following three wildfires. Logistic regression analyses were used to develop models predicting the probability of attack by Douglas-fir beetle (Dendroctonus pseudotsugae Hopkins, 1905) and the probability of Douglas-fir mortality within 4 years following fire. Percent crown volume scorched (crown scorch), cambium inju...

Xylella fastidiosa has been recognized as a pathogen of landscape trees for over 25 years. Collectively, these diseases are referred to as bacterial leaf scorch (BLS). Arborists, property owners, and communities are now beginning to recognize BLS as a serious threat to the urban forest. Although advances in symptom awareness and diagnostic techniques have enabled arborists to diagnose BLS, ther...
