We present the i-ConeTM: a new projection-based panoramic display system for virtual environments. The i-ConeTM uses conical screen geometry, resulting in optimized projector placement to create an extended workspace for standing participants in a front projection curved screen display with a very large continuous field of view. Improved acoustical properties of the conical screen geometry enab...

Peripheral displays are useful for organizing information and providing additional screen space for managing information. One design issue is whether peripheral displays should be part of a single large contiguous display space or segmented into many dedicated displays. To test this, an experiment was conducted comparing performance for on-screen versus off-screen displays and bordered (i.e., w...

This study investigated how display parameters influence humans’ ability to control simulated egorotations from optic flow. The literature on visual turn perception reports contradictory data, which might be partly due to the different display devices used in these studies. In this study, we aimed at disentangling the influence of display devices, screen curvature, and field of view (FOV) on th...

This paper introduces display design process about hardware and software based on AT89C52 single chip microcomputer. We use a simple external circuit to control the display screen, which size is 32 × 192. The display screen also can display the size of the six 32 × 32 dot matrix Chinese characters by a dynamic scan mode, and can be divided into two small display screen, which can display twenty...

This paper describes a projection system using DLP projectors and parabolic mirrors to provide a 90◦ curved screen with a 4-to-1 aspect ratio. This display is intended to provide an ‘immersive’ experience for the user and facilitate a very large canvas on which to utilize multiple applications or single ones requiring a large screen. The resulting display has a 3072 × 768 pixel display area.

Display systems with high quality and wide display screen can be used at fixed place due to big size and heavy weight. On the other hands, mobile systems have small display screen and thus decrease user-immersion because it is compact. In this paper, we resolve these drawbacks of established display systems by proposing a novel portable projection-based augmented reality (AR) system. The system...

Interactive delivery of multimedia material destined for educational courseware or large reference archives imposes complex constraints on both the delivery system and on the application design. A City in Transition: New Orleans, 1983-86, a cinematic case study of urban change, combines 3 hours of movie sequences; a still frame library of characters, places and maps, mastered on optical videodi...
