Airline seat inventory control is the allocation of seats in the same cabin to different fare classes such that the total revenue is maximized. Seat allocation can be modelled as dynamic stochastic programs, which are computationally intractable in network settings. Deterministic and probabilistic mathematical programming models are therefore used to approximate dynamic stochastic programs. The...

Revenue Management is an economic policy that increases the earned profit by adjusting the service demand and inventory. Revenue Management in airlines correlates with inventory control and price levels in different fare classes. We focus on pricing and seat allocation problems in airlines by introducing a constrained optimization problem in Binary Integer Programming (BIP) formulation. Two BIP...

We report a retrospective study of 378 perforating eye injuries presenting between August 1981 and July 1984 to four major teaching hospitals. The aetiological groups have been analysed together and by region, and preventive measures for some groups are discussed. We have confirmed the effectiveness of seat belt legislation in reducing serious eye injury.

This paper considers a seat inventory control problem in which flights depart sequentially and passengers purchase available seats depending on customer choice behavior. Customer choice behavior can lead to either a horizontal shift or a booking loss when a desired fare class is unavailable. This problem is mathematically challenging and intractable via exact mathematical models. As an alternat...

background: seat belts have been proven as one of the most successful means of preventing or reducing injuries to occupants of cars during an accident. this paper examines the reasons behind the non-compliance of the seat belt law in malaysia and suggests possible measures to get the percentage of seat belt usage up higher. methods: various databases of articles were searched for seat belt usag...

This study presents an optimization model that uses stochastic programming to optimally allocate seats and maximize the profit of airline, considering overbooking. Airline seat inventory control involves selling right people at time. If airline sells tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis, it is likely be occupied by leisure travelers late bookers. Therefore, business willing pay higher far...

In the first part of the dissertation, we focus on the retailer's problem of forecasting demand for products in a category (including those that they have never carried before), optimizing the selected assortment, and customizing the assortment by store to maximize chain-wide revenues or profits. We develop algorithms for demand forecasting and assortment optimization, and demonstrate their use...

BACKGROUND Increasing seat belt use represents an ideal opportunity for preventive health care in family practice. Little evidence exists, however, that primary care physicians can increase safety belt use. METHODS Three hundred twenty-six patients seen in a rural primary care center were randomized to either a control or intervention group. Before their health care examination, patients comp...

The paper takes the operation center of D company as an example, studies the packing material inventory control. Grouping by ABC classification, the paper establishes the joint order of multi-item inventory control model to determine the optimal order cycle, achieving the purpose of reducing inventory levels and inventory cost. Keywords-packing materials; inventory; joint order; multi-item

We consider a liquid type of a deteriorating item which is packaged by an outside supplier and is delivered to final customers by a distributor. Customers arrive according to a Poisson process and ask for an integer number of packages. Unsatisfied demands are backordered. The inventory is reviewed continuously and replenished from an external supplier with a positive deterministic lead time fol...
