This paper proposes a prediction method that relies on the Dominance-based Rough Set Approach (DRSA) to improve the individual knowledge appropriation when the learning process occurs in a collaborative environment such as the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). This method is based on two phases: the first has to be applied at the end of each week of the MOOC and aims at inferring a preferenc...

The purpose of this paper is to introduce and discuss the concept of T-rough (prime, primary) ideal and T-rough fuzzy (prime, primary) ideal in a commutative ring . Our main aim in this paper is, generalization of theorems which have been proved in [6, 7, 11]. At first, T-rough sets introduced by Davvaz in [6]. By using the paper, we define a concept of T-rough ideal , T-rough quotient ideal an...

Interval information systems are generalizedmodels of single-valued information systems. By introducing a dominance relation to interval information systems, we propose a ranking approach for all objects based on dominance classes and establish a dominance-based rough set approach, which is mainly based on substitution of the indiscernibility relation by the dominance relation. Furthermore, we ...

In order to handle inconsistencies in ordinal and monotonic information systems, the Variable Consistency Dominance-based Rough Set Approach (VC-DRSA) has been proposed and successfully applied in real decision making. However, there exists an error spread of inconsistencies in VC-DRSA. In this paper, we firstly induce a strict-dominance relation into Variable-Precision Rough Sets (VPRS). Two n...

The paper shows the contribution that two different multiple criteria decision aiding (MCDA) methods could provide in the field of strategic decisions and urban and territorial planning. In particular, the analytic network process and the dominance-based rough set approach have been considered and discussed in the work with reference to their role in supporting such decision-making processes, t...

Customer churn means the loss of existing customers to a competitor. Accurately predicting customer behavior may help firms to minimize this loss by proactively building a lasting relationship with their customers. In this paper, the application of the factor analysis and the Variable Consistency Dominance-based Rough Set Approach (VC-DRSA) in the customer relationship management (CRM) of the a...

This paper introduces a mechanism for computing approximations of Dominance-Based Rough Sets (DBRS) by bit-vector encodings. DBRS was introduced by Greco et al. as an extension of Pawlak’s classical rough sets theory by using dominance relations in place of equivalence relations for approximating sets of preference ordered decision classes. Our formulation of dominance-based approximation space...

Incremental induction of decision rules within the dominance-based rough set approach to the multicriteria and multiattribute classification is discussed. We introduce an algorithm, called Glance, that incrementally induces a set of all rules from examples. We experimentally evaluate it and compare with two other algorithms, previously proposed for this kind of classification problem.

Induction of decision rules within the dominance-based rough set approach to the multiple-criteria sorting decision problem is discussed in this paper. We introduce an algorithm called DOMLEM that induces a minimal set of generalized decision rules consistent with the dominance principle. An extension of this algorithm for a variable consistency model of dominance based rough set approach is al...
