We determine the mass of the lightest q̄q scalar meson with I = 1 using the simulation with two dynamical Domain Wall Fermions. The conventional exponential fit of the scalar correlator is justified in this case giving the mass 1.58± 0.34 GeV. In general the scalar correlator receives also the bubble contribution, which is the intermediate state with two pseudoscalar mesons. This contribution is...

When an impurity is doped in a solid, it inevitably induces a local stress, tending to expand or contract the lattice. Consequently, strain can be applied to change the solubility of impurity in a solid. Generally, the solubility responds to strain "monotonically," increasing (decreasing) with the tensile (compressive) strain if the impurity induces a compressive stress or vice versa. Using fir...

Nucleate pool boiling is typically characterized by cyclic growth and departure of vapor bubbles from a heated wall. It has been experimentally observed that the contact angle at the bubble base varies during the ebullition cycle. In the present numerical study, a static contact angle model and dynamic contact angle models based on the contact line velocity and the sign of the contact line velo...

We construct blowing-up sign-changing solutions to some nonlinear critical equations by glueing a standard bubble to a degenerate function. We develop a new method based on analyticity to perform the glueing when the critical manifold of solutions is degenerate and no Bianchi–Egnell type condition holds.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the power of prenatal 2-D ultrasound examination in the 2nd trimester as a method of choice for accurate diagnosis of annular pancreas. METHODS Co-incidence of the double bubble sign (often accompanying gastroduodenal dilatation) together with a hyperechogenic band around the duodenum (corresponding with the tissue of annular pancreas) was used as a diagnostic criterion....

Metallosis and metal-induced synovitis are well-recognized complications of metal-backed polyethylene joint prostheses and have been frequently described in the orthopedic surgery literature; however, relatively fewer articles discussing the radiologic aspects of this complication have been published. To illustrate the importance of radiologic findings in the diagnosis and management of these p...

Since the introduction of the original singlesection computed tomography (CT) machines, and more recent spiral CT, several different types of CT artefact have been described. Recognized artefacts include motion artefact, metallic streak artefact, beam hardening, partial volume artefact and step artefact. The use of contrast-enhanced spiral CT has created many new artefacts and potential pitfall...
