We show that the Hardy spaces for Fourier integral operators form natural of initial data when applying ℓp-decoupling inequalities to local smoothing wave equation. This yields new estimates which, in a quantified manner, improve bounds conjecture on Rn p≥2(n+1)/(n−1), and complement them 2<p<2(n+1)/(n−1). These are invariant under application operators, they essentially sharp.

In white-light interference microscopy, measurement of surface shape generally requires peak extraction of the fringe function envelope. In this paper the Teager-Kaiser energy and higher-order energy operators are proposed for efficient extraction of the fringe envelope. These energy operators are compared in terms of precision, robustness to noise, and subsampling. Flexible energy operators, d...

Balancing networks are highly distributed data structures used to solve multiprocessor synchronization problems. Typically, balancing networks are accessed by tokens, and the distribution of the tokens on the network’s output specify the property of the network. However, tokens represent increment operations only, and tokens alone are not adequate for synchronization problems that require decre...

We generalize a smoothing algorithm for finite min–max to finite min– max–min problems. We apply a smoothing technique twice, once to eliminate the inner min operator and once to eliminate the max operator. In mini–max problems, where only the max operator is eliminated, the approximation function is decreasing with respect to the smoothing parameter. Such a property is convenient to establish ...

An approach is described which has the potential to unify edge preserving smoothing with segmentation based on differential edge detection at multiple scales. The analysis of n-D data is decomposed into independent 1-D problems. Smoothing in various directions along 1-D profiles through n-D data is driven by local structure separation, rather than by local contrast. Analytic expressions are obt...

This paper presents a new algorithm for smoothing 3D binary images in a topology preserving way. Our algorithm is a reduction operator: some border points that are considered as extremities are removed. The proposed method is composed of two parallel reduction operators. We are to apply our smoothing algorithm as an iterationby-iteration pruning for reducing the noise sensitivity of 3D parallel...
