This paper presents a method for determining the load capacity of three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors supplied with balanced distorted voltage containing rotating harmonics (1st, 5th, 7th, 11th, 13th,...). The is based on dependence motor power losses in rotor cage. was determined short-circuit measurements made frequencies equal to harmonic frequencies. To evaluate capacity, factor prop...

Broken rotor bars and end-ring are common faults in three-phase squirrel-cage induction motors. These faults reduce the developed toque and increase the speed fluctuations of the motor. Meanwhile, developed unsymmetrical magnetic generates noise and vibration in the motor. Local heat around the broken bars may gradually break the adjacent bars and the motor will be finally out of service. Finit...

Induction motor manufacturers have long known that substitution of copper for diecast aluminum in the rotor squirrel cage would significantly reduce motor losses and improve the electrical energy efficiency. Aluminum is readily die-cast to produce the complex squirrel cage within and around the iron laminations of the rotor. Copper is much more difficult to die-cast due to its high melting temp...

Induction motors are becoming familiar these days and is being employed in most of the industrial processes. This “Analyzing And Detection Of Rotor Faults In Squirrel Cage Induction Motor Drives Using Matlab” presents a simulation of detecting the rotor faults such as broken rotor bars or end rings in squirrel cage induction motor drives. It enables detection of those faults, which may arise du...

The paper demonstrates simulation and steady-state performance of three phase squirrel cage induction motor and detection of rotor broken bar fault using MATLAB. This simulation model is successfully used in the fault detection of rotor broken bar for the induction machines. A dynamic model using PWM inverter and mathematical modelling of the motor is developed. The dynamic simulation of the sm...

The exploration of electromagnetic vibration sources is very important for the vibroacoustic reduction a squirrel-cage induction motor. However, influence high-order force on motor has not been studied before. investigated in detail. Firstly, Maxwell stress tensor method applied to calculate force. Next, transfer function introduced describe phenomenon that induces low-mode vibration. Then, for...

This paper presents an alternative input/output modelling of a squirrel-cage induction motor drive system. Usually these systems are modelled using state variables like rotor currents or linking fluxes, some of them extremely difficult to obtain. A neural network based learning through examples algorithm is used to represent the motor dynamics, using only input/output information. This is very ...

A modified approach, involving the addition of a low frequency boost voltage, is developed and adopted as an enhancement to the conventional closed loop f v speed control of a three-phase squirrel cage induction motor modeled in the stationary qd reference frame using six-step voltage source inverter waveform. The results obtained show a superior performance in the two basic mechanical characte...

This paper deals with the finite element analysis of a specific fault of the squirrel cage induction motors consisting in rotor bars breaking. Several variants of rotor bar faults are studied, using both quasi-static and transient magnetic field analyses. The numerical results in the reference case of healthy motor are experimentally validated by laboratory measurements.
