Albendazole (ABZ) presystemic clearance was studied in rat by perfusion of a 25 microM ABZ solution in isolated intestinal loops. Significant secretion of the active metabolite, ABZSO, into the lumen was observed. The metabolite was also present in mesenteric blood. After 30 min of intestinal perfusion, 64% of the ABZ dose had disappeared from lumen. The total amount of ABZSO measured was 0.341...

The aim of the present study was to investigate the possible effects of antidepressant drugs (fluvoxamine, imipramine) on the metabolism of the aliphatic-type phenothiazine neuroleptic chlorpromazine in the human liver. The experiment was performed in vitro using human liver microsomes. The kinetic analysis of chlorpromazine metabolism carried out in the absence or presence of antidepressants s...

A new catalytic asymmetric oxidation of sulfides to sulfoxides in water using the hypervalent iodine(V) reagent iodoxybenzene (PhIO2) has been developed. This methodology is distinctly different from the previously reported use of cyclodextrins or biological catalysts and provides a new route to asymmetric sulfoxidation in water.

The non-heme high-spin ferric iron hydroperoxo species formed in superoxide reductase catalyzes oxidative aldehyde deformylation through its nucleophilic character. This species also acts as an electrophile to catalyze oxygen atom transfer in sulfoxidation reactions, highlighting the oxidation potential of non-heme iron hydroperoxo species.

Insights into chiral induction for an asymmetric sulfoxidation reaction involving a single oxygen atom transfer are gained through analyzing the stereocontrolling transition states. The fitting of the substrate into the chiral cavity of a new class of imidodiphosphoric Brønsted acids, as well as weak CH⋅⋅⋅π and CH⋅⋅⋅O noncovalent interactions, are identified as responsible for the observed ch...

Thiolate-protected gold nanoclusters are explored for catalytic application in the selective oxidation of sulfide to sulfoxide by PhIO. The TiO(2)-supported Au(25)(SR)(18) nanocluster catalysts give rise to high catalytic activity (e.g.∼97% conv. of Ph-S-CH(3) and ∼92% selectivity for Ph-S(=O)-CH(3) sulfoxide) and show excellent recyclability in the sulfoxidation process.

The metabolism of the 5-lipoxygenase inhibitor, 4-(3-(4-(2-methyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenylthio)phenyl)-tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-carboxamide (CJ-13,610), was investigated in liver microsomes from human and preclinical species in an effort to compare metabolite profiles and evaluate the in vitro-in vivo correlation for metabolic clearance. Overall, the metabolite profile of CJ-13,610 was comparable a...
