The transducer-lens system is one major component in the performance of an acoustic microscope. The design criteria for the various types of applications of an acoustic microscope are different. For surface imaging applications, it is desired to have a small spot size and low sidelobe level. For materials characterization and subsurface imaging applications (sue~ as subsurface crack imaging), i...
A striation pattern can emerge in high-frequency acoustic signals interacting with dynamic surface waves. The striation pattern is analyzed using a ray tracing algorithm for both a sinusoidal and a rough surface. With a source or receiver close to the surface, it is found that part of the surface on either side of the specular reflection point can be illuminated by rays, resulting in time-varyi...
This article describes a UHF receiving system used to easily locate a very wide variety of sources of electromagnetic interference (EMI). The system consists of a sensitive narrow-bandwidth 318 MHz receiver, a directional handheld Yagi antenna and a headset (see Figs 1-3). Some of the typical broadband emitters of radio frequency interference (RFI) that you can pinpoint are powerline insulators...
In an Frequency-Division Duplexing (FDD) transceiver, a high power transmitted signal can leak into the RX chain due to limited isolation of a duplexer. Such signal is known as TX leakage and can seriously affect the performance of the receiver. A transmitter leakage canceller structure is proposed in this paper in order to improve isolation between the transmitter and receiver. The simulations...
On the basis of see-saw mechanism, possible generation structure is investigated. Assuming that right-handed neutrinos are realistic particles below GUTs mass, it is shown that there is a choice of new scheme of generation, where the combination of leptons and quarks is different from the ordinary one. Our scheme predict a new proton decay mode. 1 typeset using PTPTEX.sty §
I. Introduction During the past three decades, there has been a paradigm shift from import substitution strategies towards export‐oriented industrialization. It is in this context that countries saw the need to create special economic zones (SEZs) and export processing zones (EPZs), so‐called ecozones, to cope with the increasingly competitive environment of the global market.
We investigate the requirement of the existence of two degenerate vacua of the effective potential as a function of the Weinberg–Salam Higgs scalar field norm, as suggested by the multiple point principle, in an extension of the Standard Model including see–saw scale physics. Results are presented from an investigation of an extension of the Standard Model to the gauge symmetry group SU(3)C ×SU...
Two experiments demonstrate that 5-month-olds are sensitive to local redundancy in visual-temporal sequences. In Experiment 1, 20 infants saw 2 separate sequences of looming colored shapes that possessed the same elements but contrasting transitional probabilities. One sequence was random whereas the other was based on bigrams. Without any prior exposure, infants looked longer at the random seq...

We consider a TeV scale seesaw mechanism leading to light scalar resonances in models with otherwise intrinsically heavy scalars. The mechanism can provide a 125 GeV techni-color Higgs in e.g. two-scale TC models.
