Medium-chain (C8-C14) α, ω-dicarboxylic acids (α, ω-DCAs), which have numerous applications as raw materials for producing various commodities and polymers in chemical industry, are mainly produced from chemical or microbial conversion of petroleum-derived alkanes or plant-derived fatty acids at present. Recently, significant attention has been gained to microbial production of medium-chain α, ...

Increasing demand for petroleum has stimulated industry to develop sustainable production of chemicals and biofuels using microbial cell factories. Fatty acids of chain lengths from C6 to C16 are propitious intermediates for the catalytic synthesis of industrial chemicals and diesel-like biofuels. The abundance of genetic information available for Escherichia coli and specifically, fatty acid m...

Recently, due to the depletion of natural resources and raising environmental economic concerns regarding petroleum derivatives, creation novel ecologically friendly sustainable materials made from bio-based renewable is gaining popularity. Alkyd resins are synthetic in which both (fatty acids, glycerol, oil, etc.) nonrenewable (maleic anhydride, pentaerythritol, phthalic raw used their product...

The recent study by O’Reilly et al. [1] describing the identification of 197 esters likely related to the biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in 61 groundwater samples from 10 fuel release sites in California lacks evidence that these compounds have a “low toxicological profile,” which is the argument used by the authors to promote the routine use of silica gel cleanup. The detection ofmor...

9' be favourable compared with that of natural fats, and would almost certainly approach that of fatty acids from petroleum which presumably do not offer an attractive commercial proposition, since no company has yet undertaken the process. I would suggest that synthetic detergents will command a share of the detergent market which will depend on their efficiency and price. To that extent they ...

The cellular fatty acids from Heliobacterium chlorum, Heliobacterium gestii, and Heliobacillus mobilis were analyzed. The fatty acid contents of the three organisms were essentially the same, consisting of large amounts of branched chain and some mono-unsaturated fatty acids. Neither a phenol-water nor a phenol-petroleum ether-chloroform extraction of whole cells yielded lipopolysaccharide.

OBJECTIVES The aim of the present work was to study the anti-inflammatory and anti-arthritic activities of petroleum ether extract of fenugreek seeds. MATERIALS AND METHODS Fenugreek seed powder was extracted in petroleum ether by cold maceration. This fenugreek seed petroleum ether extract (FSPEE) was analyzed by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC) and tested on rats against carrageenan and form...
