A self-induced, non-traumatic testicular torsion is a rare entity that to our knowledge has not been reported in the literature. We report the case of a 28-year-old male who caused a self-induced testicular torsion during acts associated with cross dressing. Differential diagnosis of the acute scrotum in an adult should always include testicular torsion, as outcomes in this population are worse...

Testicular torsion is predominantly a disease of adolescence, but age itself should not be an exclusion criterion for the diagnosis. A lack of suspicion for testicular torsion in older patients may result in a missed or delayed diagnosis which jeopardizes the chance of testicular salvage. In this article, we report a case of testicular torsion in a 55-year-old Chinese man.

The changes of blood perfusion of contralateral testis after unilateral testicular torsion remain controversial. In this study, 28 New Zealand white male rabbits were randomly divided into five groups. Group A (n = 8), the control group, underwent a sham operation on the unilateral testis without inducing testicular torsion. In groups B, C, and D (n = 5 each), unilateral testicular torsion was ...

OBJECTIVE To report our experience in the management of testicular torsion with emphasis on seasonal variation, salvage rate and the status of the torted testis 3-6 months after orchidopexy. SUBJECTS AND METHODS Seventy-five patients with a presumptive diagnosis of testicular torsion, who presented to our hospital between January 1999 and December 2002, were included in the study. Following s...

A physical exam is useful, but imperfect, in ruling out testicular torsion. The cremasteric reflex or a nontender testicle usually excludes testicular torsion, but case reports have noted the opposite to be true. An abnormal testicular lie can help establish the diagnosis, but occurs in fewer than 50 percent of cases. Other findings are less reliable. The standard of care for diagnosing testicu...

Objective-This study aimed to determine the protective effects of benidipine on testicular injury after testis torsion/detorsion in ratsDesign-Experimental study Animals-Fifteen male Sprague-Dawly rats weighing 200-220g Procedure-Rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: sham (healthy group with sham operation, n=5), IRC group (control group in which I/R injury was performed by tors...
